Transferring treatment to 3 victims of winch cable break in Lao Cai

On the afternoon of August 4, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Lao Kay Production and Trading Joint Stock Company (the investor) said: "Currently, all 3 injured workers have been transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for intensive treatment."

According to a representative of Lao Kay Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, the company has coordinated with the hospital's doctors and nurses to prepare all necessary conditions and equipment to provide the best care for the injured.

“The director of Hung Cao Trading Company Limited (contractor) has been prosecuted and detained by the police, so he is no longer capable of managing to support the victims. Therefore, we have implemented support measures.

In particular, the unit will pay all transportation and treatment costs for the victims. At the same time, it will initially support each victim with an amount of 100 million VND/person," a representative of Lao Kay Production and Trading Joint Stock Company added.

According to research, the project of Phosphorus Slag and Blast Furnace Slag Grinding Plant with a capacity of 1 million tons/year is invested by Lao Kay Production and Trading Joint Stock Company. The project has completed investment procedures.

At noon on August 2, while constructing the Silo section of the factory (in Tang Loong Industrial Park), a work accident occurred.

Specifically, during the construction of the factory's raw material silo, the crane cable broke, causing the crate to fall to the ground, killing 3 workers and injuring 3 others.

Through professional measures, the police investigation agency determined that the construction unit (Hung Cao Trading Company Limited) used a tower crane to lift and lower goods to transport people in violation of labor safety regulations.

On the evening of August 2, Bao Thang District Police issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings related to the above mentioned work accident.

On August 3, the police investigation agency issued an emergency arrest warrant for Mr. Ngo Van Cao - Director of Hung Cao Trading Company Limited - to continue expanding the investigation, clarify the case and handle it according to the provisions of the law.

The three deceased victims include: Mr. LVC (35 years old, from Lao Cai), Mr. PVN (38 years old, from Tuyen Quang) and Mr. TVTr. (38 years old, from Nam Dinh ).

3 people were seriously injured: Mr. TOS (20 years old); Mr. HVTh. (35 years old) and NNT (36 years old, all in Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province).

According to the leader of Lao Cai Labor Federation, the injured and deceased victims were all freelance workers, and the construction company did not have a union.
