Ho Chi Minh City Police Club welcomes Le Huynh Duc back

As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, Ho Chi Minh City Club has officially changed its name to Ho Chi Minh City Police Club to participate in the 2025 - 2026 V-League season.

To prepare for this year's season, Ho Chi Minh City Police Club has brought in a series of good players. According to the registration list for the V-League 2025 - 2026 sent to Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), Ho Chi Minh City Police Club has included prominent faces such as coach Le Huynh Duc, or striker Nguyen Tien Linh.

Former striker Le Huynh Duc was a symbol of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, with 60 goals in the national A1 tournament, until becoming a part of the golden generation of Vietnamese football from 1996 to 2002. Thanks to his brilliant performance at the Ho Chi Minh City Police team, Huynh Duc quickly made it onto the Vietnam national team roster and won over even the most demanding coaches.

In the HCM City Police Club and the Vietnam national team, Le Huynh Duc is considered "King Midas", achieving success wherever he touches. He won 3 Vietnam Golden Balls (1995, 1997, 2002), 3 Vietnam Silver Balls (1998, 1999, 2000), and the record of participating in 5 consecutive Tiger Cups (1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004).

Le Huynh Duc's coaching career is closely linked to Da Nang Club (which is also the last place Huynh Duc played before hanging up his boots), with the golden period of 2008-2016 with the V-League championship 2009, 2012; National Cup 2009; V-League silver medal 2013 and V-League bronze medal 2011, 2016. Huynh Duc had a short period of leading Saigon team as technical director in the 2021 V-League season, then coached Binh Duong Club (now Becamex TP.HCM) in the 2023-2024 season before resting and returning to the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club this season.

Once a famous striker of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, with his proven leadership ability, Coach Le Huynh Duc can turn the southern representative into a formidable name in the V-League. Also in the registration for the coaching staff and assistant of Coach Le Huynh Duc is Mr. Phung Thanh Phuong, head coach of Ho Chi Minh City Club last season.

A formidable force

Especially when, in Le Huynh Duc's hands are a series of good players, notably striker Nguyen Tien Linh. The striker born in 1997 was associated with Huynh Duc in the 2023 - 2024 season in the Becamex TP.HCM shirt.

Tien Linh is currently the leading striker in Vietnamese football with extensive experience in the V-League and the national team. Last season, Tien Linh scored 13 goals, becoming the domestic top scorer. He is also the owner of the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball, and won the title of co-top scorer of the 2022 AFF Cup with 6 goals. Playing for Becamex TP.HCM, Tien Linh won the 2018 National Cup.

Besides Tien Linh, Ho Chi Minh City Police Club also has the service of midfielder Pham Duc Huy, a former player of Hanoi, Nam Dinh and Binh Dinh, or young midfielder Nguyen Duc Phu who used to play for U.23 Vietnam. Some prominent faces such as goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang, midfielder Endrick, Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong... are also present.
