On November 25, a representative of Binh Dan Hospital (HCMC) informed Dan Tri reporter about the treatment of patient N. (22 years old, residing in An Giang province), a girl who suffered many serious injuries after a long time of being "tortured" in Tam Thai Tu area - a large online scam den in Cambodia.
Accordingly, after emergency surgery and intensive treatment since November 9, N. has overcome the critical stage. However, the young girl still faces a long treatment journey to recover from the damage to her urinary system.
According to the update, after surgery to remove a series of stones in the kidney, ureter and bladder, the patient's health has improved significantly. Currently, the girl is completely awake, communicates well, the urinary tract infection has significantly reduced, and the edema problem due to stage 3 kidney failure has been controlled.

The patient was compensated for the amount of Albumin (an important protein in the body) lost through urine due to kidney damage and malnutrition. The patient was also treated with a bladder catheter and a JJ catheter for the right ureter to support the healing process of the urinary tract.
Although the kidney has improved, doctors say that N.'s recovery of urinary function still faces many challenges. The patient will need to undergo a thorough assessment of his bladder function in the near future.
According to experts, the consequences of being forced to hold urine for a long time can cause the bladder to lose its ability to contract and cause water retention in the kidneys. If not treated promptly, the patient is at risk of having to wear a catheter for a long time to reduce bladder pressure and prevent urine from refluxing and damaging the kidneys.
Notably, due to the long treatment time and the use of many specialized methods, the patient's hospital fees have increased. According to statistics, the patient's expenses have increased by more than 40 million VND. At the time of hospitalization, N. and her sister had only 30,000 VND left.

Faced with the above situation, doctors at Binh Dan Hospital used their own money to donate part of the hospital fees to help N. have hope of saving her life. However, the female patient's treatment process is still long, so other sources of support are needed.
"The biggest difficulty is that patients do not have identification documents and health insurance, making it difficult to access support funds. We are afraid that with the long treatment process and life being too difficult, patients may abandon treatment halfway.
At this time, N. really needs the community's support. If benefactors want to support the patient, please contact the Social Work Department at 028.3839.4747," a representative of Binh Dan Hospital made an appeal.
As Dan Tri reported, on the night of November 9, the Emergency Department of Binh Dan Hospital admitted patient N. (22 years old, from An Giang province) in a state of septic shock, vomiting blood, and severe pain.
The patient underwent emergency surgery that night to save his life. During the surgery, doctors had to transfuse 3 units of blood and immediately drain the pus from his abdomen. The surgery then removed a handful of kidney stones, ureteral stones, and bladder stones from the patient's body. The largest stone was almost the size of a chicken egg.

Lying on a hospital bed after a near-death experience, N. told medical staff that in September 2024, because she wanted to earn money to raise her child, she listened to a friend's invitation to go to Cambodia to "work on computers". Unexpectedly, the girl was taken to an online scam area called "Tam Thai Tu".
Every day, N. was tasked with creating fake accounts, connecting and luring the "prey" to initial interactions, so that other members could carry out fraudulent requests. If she failed to complete the task, she was not allowed to leave her position, and was even forbidden to go to the bathroom.
The prolonged holding of urine, combined with a poor diet and the fear of witnessing others being beaten, took a toll on the girl’s health. In early November, she began experiencing sharp pains in her hips, making it impossible to stand up straight.
Seeing that N. was swollen and seriously ill and unable to work, the managers kicked her out of the workplace. Afterwards, the girl was supported by sympathetic people to return to the border and was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, before being urgently transferred to a higher level.
