The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway project is 88km long, of which the section passing through Quang Ngai province is 60.3km long. Construction started on January 1, 2023 with a total investment of more than VND 20.4 trillion. This is the largest project among 12 component projects of the North - South Expressway in the East, phase 2021 - 2025; the contractor consortium, led by Deo Ca Group, is constructing. On the route, there are 3 tunnels through the mountain including tunnel No. 1 with a length of 610m, tunnel No. 2 with a length of 698m and tunnel No. 3 with a length of 3,200m, along with 77 bridges, 586 culverts, and 81 civil underpasses.
After nearly 3 years of construction, the total output of the project has reached more than 90% of the contract value, equivalent to more than 12 trillion VND. The road section has now completed nearly 96% of the asphalt paving. Regarding the bridge project, all 60 bridges on the main route have completed the bridge deck construction, 17 overpasses have completed the girder installation and are completing the deck. Regarding the tunnel sections, in addition to tunnel No. 3 which is in the stage of completing the tunnel shell and roadbed, tunnel No. 1 and No. 2 are also speeding up the equipment installation work, aiming for synchronous completion in the near future.
