Through the actual inspection, the Working Group highly appreciated the initiative and determination of the People's Committee of Duc Pho Ward in the past time, especially the work of reviewing, managing the fleet and raising awareness among fishermen. The Group requested that the locality not be subjective, continue to tighten management, especially with vessels at risk of IUU violations. Strengthen coordination with the Border Guard and functional agencies in inspecting and handling violations. Combating IUU fishing must be identified as a regular, long-term task, assigning specific responsibilities to each organization, individual and officer in charge of the area.
Duc Pho Ward currently has 167 fishing vessels, of which 162 are 6 meters or longer and have been registered. 100% of vessels 15 meters or longer have installed voyage monitoring devices. The locality no longer has vessels in the "3 no" category. The work of combating IUU fishing has been directed strongly by Party committees, authorities and functional sectors, and widely propagated, helping to significantly raise fishermen's awareness of law compliance. These results have contributed to helping Quang Ngai accelerate its response to the European Commission's requirements, towards the goal of soon removing the IUU "yellow card".
