Pogba is working to revive his career after a turbulent period. |
The 32-year-old joined Monaco in the summer of 2025 on a two-year contract, aiming to restart his career after a long period of injury and a doping ban. Initially, Pogba was expected to return to training and playing at a high intensity from the end of December 2025, in order to regain his form and hopefully feature in the 2026 World Cup.
However, things have gone awry. Last month, Pogba suffered a left calf injury in training before the match against Marseille, sidelining him for a month. To date, he has only played a mere 30 minutes in three Ligue 1 matches, with his last appearance being against Brest at the end of December.
AS Monaco's management has admitted that their plans for Pogba haven't gone as expected. AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro expressed disappointment but still hopes Pogba can return and contribute.
However, Scuro also hinted that the club might terminate Pogba's contract early if the situation doesn't improve. According to L'Equipe , Pogba's contract with Monaco includes a clause allowing the club to unilaterally terminate it early if the player is not fit enough.
