Mr. Trinh Van Ba ​​(58 years old, residing in Quarter 1, Van Du Town, Thach Thanh District, Thanh Hoa; father of shooter Trinh Thu Vinh), said his family is looking forward to every minute to watch Thu Vinh compete at the Paris Olympics.

"My family was already very happy when my child competed in the Paris Olympics. Yesterday, he made it to the final round, so we were even happier. If he won a medal this afternoon, we would be so happy," said Mr. Ba.

Unable to hide her joy, Ms. Le Thi Cuong (49 years old; Thu Vinh's mother) said: "In 8th grade, she hid from her parents to compete in athletics. Only when she was able to represent the district in the provincial competition did she tell her parents. Because at that time Vinh was weak and skinny compared to his friends, they didn't want him to compete in any races. But then he became so passionate that he became an athlete."

On the morning of July 28, Ms. Le Thi Cuong, mother of shooter Trinh Thu Vinh, still went out to the garden to pick custard apples to sell as usual.

Mrs. Cuong also said that she was proud of her son's excellent performance to represent the country in the competition. And whether he won a medal or not, she was very happy because her son was among the few people competing in the world's biggest Olympics. Both grandparents were moved to wish their son good luck: "My son, your parents are proud of you. Keep trying. No matter what, your parents are very happy."

Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh's family background was very difficult. Vinh's parents left their hometown in Vinh Loc District (Thanh Hoa) to the northwestern mountainous region of Thach Thanh District to start a business by planting sugarcane for others.

Shooter Trinh Thu Vinh started out as an athlete, training with the People's Police Sports Team since the age of 14. After 3 years of training without any results, Thu Vinh was transferred to try her hand at the shooting team. After 3 months of training, the coaches saw Thu Vinh's qualities, which were calmness, steadiness, and the ability to concentrate, and then received professional training.
