Announcement of the decision to establish Da Nang Free Trade Zone

(QNO) - On the morning of June 22, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision on the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.

Attending the announcement ceremony were Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai; Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc - Party Central Committee member, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang; Alternate Party Central Committee member, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.

The event was organized to widely inform domestic and foreign investors, organizations and individuals about the basic contents of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTA); the plan and implementation roadmap so that interested investors can learn and plan to invest in the FTA. At the same time, it introduced the development orientation, planning location, preferential policies and mechanisms, as well as the implementation roadmap of the Da Nang FTA.

According to Decision No. 1142 of the Prime Minister, the Da Nang Trade Zone has a scale of about 1,881 hectares arranged in non-contiguous locations, including functional areas: Production, logistics; trade - services; digital technology industry , information technology and innovation and other types of functional areas according to the provisions of law. The Decision also announced 7 locations expected to form the Da Nang Trade Zone.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Le Trung Chinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City said that Da Nang is the first locality in the country to be assigned to pilot this model. The establishment of the Da Nang Trade Center is considered a breakthrough step, a new institutional model with the expectation of creating an international development space, capable of leading green growth, innovation and attracting strategic investment.

“The Da Nang Commercial Zone will be developed in conjunction with the International Financial Center to turn Da Nang into a high-quality service center, creating momentum to spread to the Central Highlands and the whole country; becoming an important link connecting the East-West Economic Corridor, the Asia-Pacific region and the world,” said Mr. Le Trung Chinh.

According to the leaders of Da Nang City, the city is proactively reviewing and developing a plan with a series of tasks that need to be focused on in the coming time to put the Da Nang Trade Center into operation soon.

At the same time, the city is continuing to propose additional new, more open and superior mechanisms and policies applicable to the Da Nang Trade Center under the authority of the National Assembly and the Government, submitting them to competent authorities for consideration and decision; at the same time, studying and proposing the expansion of potential new locations after the merger with Quang Nam province.

At the ceremony, the People's Committee of Da Nang City awarded a Memorandum of Understanding on investment in Da Nang Commercial Zone to a number of strategic investors such as Sun Group Corporation, Terne Holdings and One Destination Corporation, BRG Group-CTCP, Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company, and Lien Thai Binh Duong Import-Export Company Limited.

There are also Phuong Trang Investment Joint Stock Company, Newtechco Group Joint Stock Company, representatives of the joint venture of investment enterprises NewTechco Group Joint Stock Company and Phytopharco Vietnam Company Limited, Saigon Da Nang Investment Joint Stock Company...

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said that the Central Government has given special attention to Da Nang and highly appreciated the efforts of the city government in realizing the Central Government's policies.

According to comrade Nguyen Hoa Binh, the Trade Center is an initiative of the Da Nang Party Committee. This place will connect the global economy, creating a boost not only for Da Nang but also for the whole region and the entire Vietnamese economy.

The Government is also very pleased with Da Nang's new proposals. In addition to the Trade Center, the Central Government also allows Da Nang to implement many new economic initiatives such as the Financial Center, deep-water port, river of light... which will certainly make Da Nang develop more strongly in the coming time.
