Located on the Hoa Bac tourist route (Hai Van ward), Bếp Củi - the name of a small and pretty tea shop located in the middle of a small garden, the gate is covered with red and pink tigon flower trellis, the paths are full of green trees, flowers and grass, creating a romantic and rustic space that makes visitors excited every time they pass this way.
The tea shop has dozens of herbs and medicinal plants used to make different types of tea. According to the introduction, the shop has about 7-8 types of tea, the names are also very interesting. The teas are cooked and processed in the traditional way with a wood stove to boil water, make tea, or by boiling water, tea, and spices for many hours. The spices are also herbs that are around us, creating a spicy, strong and rich flavor for the tea.
The owner of the tea shop is Tran Thi Bich Hang, a university graduate in Ho Chi Minh City, a former journalist, and fluent in foreign languages. The opportunity for Hang to open a tea shop comes from her understanding of how to use medicinal herbs and plants of the local people, along with some valuable remedies from a famous doctor that have the effect of reducing stress, relaxing, beautifying the skin, and promoting deep sleep.
Sitting at the Bếp Củi tea shop, enjoying two types of tea with two different flavors, although strange, is quite interesting. Every now and then, Hang welcomes a few foreign guests who come in, then hurries into the kitchen, watching the pot of tea that is being brewed. While meticulously introducing the tea, Hang also answers the guests' questions in detail, making them satisfied and impressed. "The Russian tea shop has a lot of customers. Many Russian experts from projects in Da Nang still come here regularly" - Bich Hang confided.
Ten-flavor health-preserving bamboo sugarcane ginseng tea, also known as “long-lived tea”, is a favorite tea of customers, especially the elderly. It is very interesting to drink when hot. Hang humorously said: “This tea does not make you sad, but sadness has a reason to disappear.” This tea is cooked on a low firewood stove, with ginseng to stay awake, sugarcane to sweeten, bamboo root to cool the liver, chrysanthemum to lighten the head, monk fruit to help you breathe deeply… and some other flavors.
Bamboo ginseng tea is pre-cooked tea, bottled, kept cold, and drunk to cool down. Drinking tea is like eating durian, whoever can eat it will love the aroma, addicted to the scent, the unique richness of durian. Each customer who comes here has their own preference, some are suitable for the warm, fragrant, spicy taste of spiced tea, others are suitable for the sweet taste of artichoke tea, drunk cold. The beauty of tea lies not only in the spices but also in the unmistakable aroma.
Leaving the pressure of the city, returning to the peace of a small garden in Hoa Bac, Hang has never felt regretful, on the contrary, she always feels excited to be in harmony with nature. From regular customers to new customers coming on a tour to enjoy tea for the first time, all share the same affection for the small tea shop.
