(GLO)- On May 24, the Pleiku City Labor Federation ( Gia Lai Province) held the 10th Trade Union Congress for the 2023-2028 term with the motto "Innovation - Democracy - Solidarity - Development". This is the unit chosen by the Gia Lai Provincial Labor Federation to organize a model congress of grassroots trade unions to gain experience and replicate on a large scale.

Attending the Congress were Ms. Tran Le Nhung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, President of the Provincial Labor Federation; Mr. Tran Xuan Quang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Pleiku City Party Committee, leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, departments and unions of Pleiku City and 200 outstanding union members representing nearly 9,000 union members of affiliated grassroots unions.

The report at the Congress stated: During the term, with the goal of focusing on the grassroots, the activities of the Pleiku City Trade Union were deployed, innovated in content and methods of operation, many emulation movements launched and organized by the Trade Union have brought about practical results, contributing significantly to the economic growth and political and social stability of the city. Trade Unions at all levels have focused on performing their functions and tasks, focusing on caring for the lives, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; actively participating in many social, humanitarian and charitable activities... During the past term, the Pleiku City Trade Union supported the repair and construction of 17 "Trade Union Shelters", supported the "Fund for the Poor"; "Fund of Gratitude"; supported the people of the Central and Central Highlands regions affected by natural disasters, with a total amount of nearly 3.5 billion VND. At the same time, support was provided to 223 union members, workers, children of union members, workers in difficult circumstances, suffering from serious illnesses, work accidents, occupational diseases, with an amount of over 108 million VND.
At the Congress, delegates frankly pointed out a number of shortcomings and limitations that need to be overcome in the coming time and discussed the targets and tasks for the 2023-2028 term. Accordingly, the Congress resolved to pass 10 main targets including: by 2028, Pleiku city will have 10,300 union members; most enterprises with 25 or more workers and employees will have a union organization; the City Labor Federation will annually be classified as having completed its tasks well or better; 90% or more of grassroots trade unions in the state sector and 55% or more of grassroots trade unions in the non-state sector will be classified as having completed their tasks; at least 83 enterprises and units with union organizations will be qualified to represent, negotiate and sign collective labor agreements according to regulations; at least 75% of grassroots trade unions will participate with employers in promulgating and implementing grassroots democracy regulations; On average, each grassroots union introduces at least 1 outstanding union member to the Party for consideration, training and admission; 100% of grassroots unions in the State sector and at least 80% of grassroots unions outside the State sector are eligible to establish a mass women's union; 95% or more of agencies, units and enterprises meet the standards of cultural units; each year, each grassroots union plants and cares for at least 1 large tree or more in the premises of the agency, unit, enterprise or suitable location...

Speaking at the Congress, President of the Provincial Federation of Labor Tran Le Nhung highly appreciated the spirit, responsibility and commended the City Trade Union for seriously grasping and implementing the superior directives on leading the grassroots trade union congresses towards the Pleiku City Trade Union Congress; the results achieved by the workers' and civil servants' movement as well as the spirit of solidarity and unity of union members.
With the theme “Innovation-Democracy-Solidarity-Development”, comrade Tran Le Nhung expressed her hope that the new Executive Committee will inherit and promote the spirit and responsibility so that trade union activities can continue to be maintained and developed with more achievements. At the same time, she suggested a number of issues for the Congress to discuss, consider and decide on, which are to do a good job of orientation, grasp the developments and ideological situation of union members and workers; promptly resolve labor disputes, and prevent strikes and collective work stoppages from occurring. In particular, promote the work of gathering and developing union members, establishing grassroots unions; effectively carry out patriotic emulation movements, and encourage workers to actively respond and participate in the movements of “good workers”, “creative workers”, etc.
Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Tran Xuan Quang - Standing Deputy Secretary of Pleiku City Party Committee emphasized: In the upcoming tasks, I suggest that the union pay great attention to introducing outstanding union members for the Party to consider, foster and admit. In the process of organizing and implementing tasks, it is necessary to closely follow the direction of the City Party Committee and pay special attention to programs, plans and very specific solutions for implementation. And currently, the Government is focusing on directing the national digital transformation program, the Union is responsible for propagating to its union members to realize the role and urgency of national digital transformation, contributing to the success of the city's digital transformation.

The Congress elected 14 comrades to the Executive Committee of the Pleiku City Labor Union for the 2023-2028 term, Mr. Do Xuan Quy was re-elected as Chairman of the Pleiku City Labor Federation; elected 27 delegates (including 24 official delegates and 3 alternate delegates) to attend the upcoming Provincial Labor Federation Congress.
