New technology for refractive surgery reduces the risk of dry eyes after surgery

According to the High-Tech Eye Center (Dong Do Hospital), Smartsight refractive surgery is an advanced laser surgery technology that uses laser beams to create ultra-thin corneal tissue. The surgeon monitors through a microscope the removal of tissue through a small incision of only 2 mm, without creating a corneal flap, helping to reduce the risk of dry eyes after surgery.

This technology also allows surgery to treat higher degrees of myopia and astigmatism than previous methods, with myopia up to 12 degrees and astigmatism up to 6 degrees. The big advantage of Smartsight technology compared to previous methods is the ability to restore vision quickly and high precision during surgery.

In Vietnam, the number of people with refractive errors has increased in recent years. Of these, myopia accounts for the highest rate, about 30-50% (depending on the level of education), in some provinces and cities.
