Food testing facility has violations

The Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) has decided to impose an administrative fine of 75 million VND on FAO Certification and Testing Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Phu Thu Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City) for the administrative violation: conducting conformity assessment for state management outside the designated field.

The company is also subject to additional penalties: the right to use the decision to designate a food testing facility to serve state management of food safety has been revoked for 9 months, starting from June 20, 2025.

The Food Safety Department requested remedial measures: forcing FAO Certification and Testing Joint Stock Company to withdraw the conformity assessment results granted to the Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (280 test result reports); return the amount of 70.5 million VND, which was obtained from the violation.

After the implementation period expires (30 days from the date of receipt of the decision), FAO Certification and Testing Joint Stock Company must send the Food Safety Department a report on the results of implementing the above remedial measures.

According to current regulations, a conformity assessment organization is an organization that conducts testing, inspection, appraisal, and certification of conformity of products, goods, production processes, service provision, and the environment in accordance with applicable announced standards and corresponding technical regulations.
