Sixty-year-old grandmother happy after one year of marriage to 28-year-old husband

Malaysia 's Rokiah Samat, who has 10 children, 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, expressed her happiness at marrying a man 34 years her junior.

Malaysian social media went viral over the weekend on TikTok, a video of Rokiah, a woman from Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, Malaysia, marrying her husband Mohammad Amin Jundail, despite their nearly three-decade age gap. The video has so far attracted more than 2.4 million views.

"Although Amin is much younger, I believe my husband can take care of me for the rest of my life. I hope this is my last marriage," Ms. Rokiah told Malaysian media after the video attracted public attention in the country.

Amin, who works as a masseuse and beauty products seller, said he first messaged Rokiah in October 2021 after seeing her TikTok account. He initially just wanted to be friends with her, but feelings developed. So he decided to travel from his hometown in Sabah state to Kelantan to meet her.

"On my birthday, January 10 last year, I met Samat at her house," Amin said.

They got engaged on June 6, 2022, and married three months later, on September 9. Rokiah said she decided to marry Amin because they were compatible and he got along well with her children.

"I don't like living with children, I feel more comfortable living alone. But I also need a life partner, and that's why I remarried," she said. "After all, this is God's will. For me, the important thing is not age, but to marry an honest and sincere husband."

Ms Rokiah was first married in 1977, but the couple separated in 2017. A year later, she married a Myanmar man, a marriage that lasted only two years, as he went to work in China. She has 10 children, 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild from her two marriages.

Amin and Rokiah are grateful that their families have accepted their marriage. Amin said it was God's will for him to marry Rokiah. They also share a love of fishing and gardening.

"She helps me become a better person. I am grateful to have a wife who always cares for me. She is perfect in every way in my eyes. My wife is also good at cooking, I love the fish head curry she makes," Amin said.

After watching the TikTok video where the couple shared their birthdays, when they met and got married, social media users sent their best wishes to the couple.

"They look like mother and daughter, or even grandmother and grandchild, but no matter what, it's God's arrangement, congratulations," commented account umi.

"Fate is fate. I am 51 years old, my husband is 36 years old, we are 15 years apart," said Simahalim.
