( Bqp.vn ) - On the afternoon of June 12, in Hanoi, the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of National Defense) organized the Emulation Congress for the period 2019 - 2024. Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense attended and delivered a speech at the congress.

In the period of 2019 - 2024, under the direct leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the leaders of the General Staff and the Political Department (General Staff), the emulation and reward work (TĐ-KT) and the Emulation and Victory movement of the Foreign Affairs Department have achieved important results, contributing to the successful completion of assigned political tasks. Notably, the Foreign Affairs Department has regularly disseminated and strictly implemented the Law on Emulation and Reward, resolutions, directives, regulations and instructions of superiors. Promoting the responsibility of Party committees, commanders and political agencies in leading, directing and maintaining the effectiveness of the emulation and victory work and the Emulation and Victory movement in the unit. Based on the content and targets of the annual emulation movement, the Emulation and Training Council of the Foreign Affairs Department and the Emulation and Training Teams at all levels have specified many practical activities in implementing political tasks, thereby promptly advising and proposing to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on policies and strategic issues related to defense diplomacy, ensuring the correct principles, viewpoints and policies of the Party, properly resolving border and territorial issues, building a peaceful, stable, cooperative, friendly and developing land border, contributing to maintaining the border belt of the Fatherland.

With its achievements, over the past 5 years, the Department of Foreign Affairs has been honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the First Class Military Exploit Order, the Second Class Fatherland Protection Order, the Third Class Fatherland Protection Order, 01 Emulation Flag of the Government, 03 Emulation Flags of the Ministry of National Defense, 04 Certificates of Merit of the Government, 01 Certificate of Merit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 21 Certificates of Merit of the Ministry of National Defense, 08 Certificates of Merit of the General Staff and the General Department of Politics. Units under the Department of Foreign Affairs have 15 collectives achieving the title of Determined to Win Unit; 30 collectives achieving the title of Advanced Unit; 50 collectives achieving the title of Advanced Labor Collective; 14 collectives receiving Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff and the General Department of Politics; 183 individuals receiving the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level; 674 individuals receiving the title of Advanced Fighter, Advanced Laborer; 03 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Government; 71 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff and the General Department of Politics.

Speaking at the congress, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan commended and congratulated the outstanding achievements of typical advanced collectives and individuals in the Emulation movement for Victory and in performing the tasks of the Department of Foreign Affairs in the past 5 years. To continue promoting the Emulation movement for Victory, creating motivation for the unit to successfully complete assigned tasks, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested that the Department of Foreign Affairs continue to thoroughly grasp President Ho Chi Minh's call for Patriotic Emulation, directives and resolutions of superiors on patriotic emulation work; strengthen leadership, direction, raise awareness and action, making the spirit of Patriotic Emulation truly become the regular awareness and responsibility of each cadre and soldier; create a revolutionary movement, truly a great driving force, contributing to building a unit strong in politics, ideology and organization; successfully carry out all assigned tasks.
