Mr. Thai Van Sang in Hoa Loi Hamlet, Ngoc Dong Commune, My Xuyen District (Soc Trang) started raising 5 goats more than a year ago. After a while, he was able to recover his capital thanks to stable prices and easy output. Currently, Mr. Sang has expanded his goat herd and continues to breed. In particular, Mr. Sang also takes advantage of the land of the shrimp embankment to grow grass and chopsticks as food for the goat herd. Sharing his goat raising experience, Mr. Sang said: “The barn needs to be built high and airy for the goats to grow well. In addition to selling goats, I can also earn income from goat manure, which brings additional income to my family.”

In addition, Mr. Sang also shares his livestock farming experiences with young people in the commune, hoping to help union members and young people have more motivation to start a business and have a stable source of income like him.
Seeing the economic efficiency of Mr. Sang's goat raising model, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh in Huynh Cong De hamlet, Ngoc Dong commune also boldly borrowed 60 million VND from the district's Social Policy Bank to build a barn and buy 10 breeding goats. Currently, Mr. Thanh's goat herd is developing well and he plans to multiply the herd in the near future. Mr. Thanh said: "In the near future, I will continue to raise goats and expand them, and I will keep the good ones for breeding. I hope to raise more, from 10 goats, I will multiply them to several dozen."
One of the important targets set by the My Xuyen District Youth Union for the 2022-2027 term and the 2024-2029 term of the Vietnam Youth Union of the district is to encourage union members and young people to establish themselves, start a business and get rich right in their homeland. This is a great effort to create sustainable economic development opportunities for the young generation in the locality.
Ms. Huynh Thi Cam Hong - Secretary of My Xuyen District Youth Union said: “We create all favorable conditions for union members and young people to develop local economic models, limiting the situation of young people having to leave their hometown to work far away. At the same time, we promote access to capital from the District Social Policy Bank to support economic development models, especially goat farming models, helping young people have more opportunities to establish themselves and start a business.”
In the coming time, the District Youth Union will continue to promote programs and models to support young people in starting businesses, developing production, clean and sustainable agriculture, in order to increase income and contribute to the overall development of the district.
Recently, the leaders of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of My Xuyen District Party Committee and the district's sectors and organizations visited and highly appreciated the goat raising model of local union members and youth. This is one of the typical models in the youth economic development movement, contributing to creating a stable source of income and encouraging young people to establish themselves and start a business right in their hometown.
Currently, the entire My Xuyen district is strongly developing the livestock industry, with a total herd of more than 35,000 cattle, of which nearly 3,500 are goats. This is a positive sign showing the development potential of the livestock industry in the district, and at the same time affirming that the goat farming model is becoming a sustainable direction for many households and young people here.
