LION Championship 22: "Invincible" Vietnamese Wushu defeated Belarusian wrestler, successfully defended the championship belt

The highlight match of LION Championship 22 is the clash between 84kg champion Pham Cong Minh and Belarusian wrestler Zakhar Dmitrychenka. Previously, martial artist Pham Cong Minh was crowned LION Championship 84kg champion at the LC 11 event in December 2023 when he defeated Tran Quoc Toan in the 3rd round. The national Wushu Sanshou champion currently has a total record of 4 wins in the LION Championship MMA arena.

On the other hand, Zakhar Dmitrychenka is currently a Master of Sport Wrestling in his native Belarus (a title given to wrestlers who have won national championships for many years in a row) with a huge record of achievements, having won a bronze medal at the International Belt Wrestling Association World Championship (a sport similar to Kurash) in 2017, and Top 10 in Classical Wrestling at the U23 World Wrestling Championship 2018. Previously, Zakhar Dmitrychenka had two victories against Vietnamese representatives Le Hong Giang and Tran Quoc Toan in 2024. These two victories helped the Belarusian boxer win the right to challenge Pham Cong Minh.

Entering the match, the Vietnamese representative was quickly pinned to the floor by Zakhar Dmitrychenka with his signature punches. For nearly 5 minutes, Cong Minh had to face a series of ground-and-pound blows from his opponent.

However, Cong Minh still held his ground to seize the opportunity in the second round. The national Wushu Sanshou champion blocked his opponent's grappling attacks, and responded with elbows and punches. This style of fighting by Cong Minh drained Zakhar's stamina. At the end of the second round, Zakhar decided to stop the match, Pham Cong Minh won completely convincingly after a difficult match.

In the main match, the MMA Trio (3 on 3 format), fighters Nguyen Nguyen Chuong - Nguyen Quoc Bao and Luiz Finocchio from C88 Martial Arts Fitness & Yoga applied precise tactics to successively eliminate three representatives Bach Van Nghia - Le Quang Minh and Mahmoud Aboelkeir from The Champ MMA, to win after 5 minutes of competition.

Two professional MMA matches ended with no surprises as Russian Jiu-Jitsu expert Adel Iabbarov easily overwhelmed Liu Renyi with a triangle choke to win in his debut on the LION Championship stage.
