At the meeting, the two sides informed each other about the situation in each country, reviewed the implementation results of agreements and directions of the two countries' senior leaders, and discussed measures to promote cooperation in the coming time as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The two sides were pleased to note that in recent times, especially after the high-level meeting between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Central Committee and the meeting between the three heads of the three parties of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos in February 2025, the relationship between the two countries has developed strongly and achieved many achievements.
Accordingly, political and diplomatic relations are increasingly trustworthy. Defense and security cooperation continues to be a solid pillar, economic, trade and investment cooperation is developing with two-way trade turnover growing strongly, reaching over 10 billion USD in 2024 and over 6 billion USD in the first 6 months of 2025. Cooperation in other fields such as education - training, culture - tourism, people-to-people exchange, and local cooperation is increasingly developing substantially, diversely with many new forms.

On that basis, to suit the new situation, the two sides agreed to focus on strengthening close political relations, continuing to deepen security and defense cooperation, expanding trade cooperation, promoting traffic connections, border gates, people-to-people exchanges, improving capacity, coordinating well in land border demarcation and border management, resolving legal document issues for people of Vietnamese origin; actively exchanging, aiming to sign new cooperation agreements...; including coordinating well in preparing for high-level visits and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, in the near future, the CPP Party Chairman, Senate Chairman Hun Sen will attend the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam's National Day in Hanoi, the 21st Session of the Joint Committee and the 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development of Border Provinces in 2025.
The two sides had in-depth discussions on a number of international and regional issues, including the East Sea issue and Mekong cooperation, and pledged to continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations, ASEAN, and the Mekong sub-region.
The two Heads of Delegation agreed to highly appreciate the cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Foreign Affairs. In recent times, the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs have played a proactive role as a bridge to promote cooperation in various fields and between ministries and local sectors, contributing to consolidating and deepening the relationship between the two countries.
The two sides also pledged to further promote the advisory and connecting role, and strengthen close cooperation between the functional units of the two ministries; and agreed to organize the 10th Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries in Cambodia in 2027.
