Mr. Nguyen Phan Bon (An Chau village, Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district) planted nearly 20 hectares of acacia forest. He and other forest planting households were reminded and warned by local authorities and forest rangers, thoroughly grasping the contents to prevent forest fires to the maximum extent, such as fully preparing fire fighting equipment, regularly staying at the acacia forest to be ready to handle forest fire incidents when they occur.

“The local government has given instructions on forest fire prevention and fighting, so my family always complies with them. Checking and clearing vegetation helps prevent the risk of forest fires, especially during the dry season, when dry vegetation is easily ignited. Before burning vegetation, I always report to the authorities,” said Mr. Bon.

According to statistics, the forested land area of Hoa Vang district is 55,378.5 hectares, with a forest coverage of 69.14%. Since the beginning of the year, thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, no forest fires have occurred in the district. The Hoa Vang District Forest Protection Department has directed local forest rangers to advise the People's Committees of communes with forests to establish mass groups and teams for forest fire prevention and fighting, including 8 commune-level steering committees, 8 commune-level shock teams; 42 mass groups and teams for forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting; with a total of more than 500 people.

In addition, the People's Committees of the communes established 9 on-duty teams and checkpoints to check forest fire prevention and fighting in key areas prone to forest fires. Mr. Ngo Tan Su, Deputy Head of the Forest Protection Department of Hoa Vang District, said that from the beginning of the year, the unit has been reviewing the current status, zoning key areas prone to forest fires and the local situation to update and supplement the forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting plans of all levels.

Thereby ensuring the timely prevention and handling of arising situations, reducing damage caused by forest fires. At the same time, review and fully prepare conditions in terms of forces, means, materials, and funding to effectively implement the "4 on-site" motto. "We focus on regular patrols, especially in key areas to detect, prevent, and promptly handle fires in the area. In particular, we maintain a 24/7 on-duty force during peak times; arrange forces to guard and strictly control people entering forest areas at high risk of fire," said Mr. Su.

Meanwhile, Son Tra peninsula plays a particularly important role in ecological balance and socio -economic development in the locality, it is considered the green lung of the city. According to the People's Committee of Son Tra district, for many years in a row there have been no forest fires in the area, however, the number of tourists visiting Son Tra peninsula is increasing and the freedom to visit, stay, light fires, and camp overnight along the tourist route is prone to forest fires, especially in the hot season.

In the coming time, the locality will continue to implement the "4 on-site" motto including command, force, means, and logistics. The district forest rangers will coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Working Group and the City Police to periodically and suddenly inspect the implementation of the forest fire prevention and fighting plan of Tho Quang ward, organizations and individuals doing business in Son Tra peninsula; handle violations related to regulations on forest fire prevention and fighting, causing forest fires. On the other hand, the locality will regularly maintain forest fire prevention and fighting duty at the People's Committees of districts, wards, forest rangers, forest owners and related agencies and units on Son Tra peninsula.

According to statistics, the total forest area and planted forest area in the city is 62,545.9 ha; forest area is 57,731.3 ha (natural forest 42,886.7 ha, planted forest 14,844.6 ha) and planted area that has not met the criteria for forest is 4,814.5 ha. The corresponding forest cover rate of the city is 44.67%.

Mr. Quach Huu Son, Deputy Head of the City Forest Protection Department, informed that the work of forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting during the hot season has always been of interest to the city leaders, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Forest Protection Department and localities, and has been closely, synchronously and effectively directed from patrolling, controlling, on-duty, propagating, educating the law, signing commitments... to handling violations of the law on forest fire prevention and fighting. Currently, the city has been experiencing widespread heat, with many days without rain, causing the forest vegetation to become brittle and very flammable.

Therefore, from the beginning, the Department directed the Forest Protection Departments, Mobile Forest Protection Teams and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Teams... to carry out specific tasks. From May 7 to 16, the City Forest Protection Department coordinated with the City Police and relevant units to organize inspection teams in communes, wards with forests, units, and forest owners in the city to proactively grasp the situation, improve the effectiveness of management in forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting. On the other hand, it rectified the work of ensuring safety in forest fire prevention and fighting; raised the sense of responsibility of local authorities, agencies, units, forest owners and people in strictly complying with regulations.
