Information about the fact that the Vietnamese youth table tennis team (currently living at the My Dinh National Sports Complex) are said to not have a nutritious diet has been published in the press in recent days.
Circular 86/2020/TT-BTC issued by the Ministry of Finance has detailed regulations on special nutritional regimes for coaches and high-performance athletes. Specifically, athletes of the national team and national youth team training in the country are entitled to a nutritional regime of 320,000 VND/day.
However, according to press reports, some athletes in the youth table tennis team are not having nutritious, quality meals to serve their training and competition.
According to Thanh Nien , on the morning of October 3, the Department of Sports and Physical Training worked with the person in charge of table tennis and related parties, requesting to rectify the problem of managing the youth table tennis team. In fact, there are a number of sports teams currently not training at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi , but training outside (including the national youth table tennis team), so the management of athletes' activities is affected, not strictly controlled.
Department of Sports and Physical Training takes action
The food allowance according to the State's regulations that the athletes are entitled to will be transferred by the Hanoi National Sports Training Center to the head coach of the youth table tennis team, then the coach will transfer it to the kitchen of the My Dinh National Sports Complex to buy food and cook for the athletes.
The Department of Sports and Physical Training has verified the information published in the press, requiring relevant parties to report and explain whether the nutritional regimen of the athletes' meals meets the training and competition standards or not.
According to the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the problem here is that the responsibility of the parties involved is not high. The national youth table tennis team needs to improve the team management, including diet, living, and nutrition for athletes, to ensure effective training and competition, without harming the athletes' performance.
