Although the terrain is rugged with many consecutive bends, this road in Ha Giang makes anyone who passes by feel overwhelmed by the picturesque scenery.
About 120km from the center of Ha Giang city, Chin Khoanh slope (connecting Sung La and Pho Cao communes) is part of Bac Sum slope, located on National Highway 4C - the main road of Ha Giang province. Not only is it considered the gateway to Dong Van stone plateau, this slope has also become a place where anyone passing by wants to stop and check-in because of its picturesque scenery.
In particular, when standing from the top of the slope looking down, visitors cannot help but admire the green, peaceful and poetic scenery, reminiscent of the image of Switzerland often seen in movies.

Although the scenery on both sides of the road is impressive, tourists who have traveled through the Nine-Knocking Slope commented that this is a dangerous road, challenging even the most experienced drivers.
Accordingly, this slope is located precariously between the mountainside with many hairpin bends and U-shaped bends appearing continuously. Local people often say that this is the place that "makes horses falter and people's legs ache".
Viet Anh, a tourist who has been through the Nine-Knocking slope several times, said: “Going down the slope is simple, but going up the slope is really difficult. Therefore, backpackers still joke that this is the Tham Xe (test-ride) slope.
In addition to requiring a motorbike with a strong engine, you also need to drive steadily to overcome this slope if you don't want to end up having to walk and push your motorbike or have another vehicle pull you up the slope.
Even experienced drivers are still wary when passing through here.

However, once you overcome the famous dangerous slope, visitors will have the opportunity to explore many other attractive destinations on the other side of the slope or visit and experience the culture and cuisine in the two communes of Pho Cao and Sung La.
Hoang Van Huy (specialized in Ha Giang - Cao Bang tours ) said that from September to November is the ideal time for tourists to visit Dong Van stone plateau, admire the beautiful scenery at Chin Khoanh slope or welcome the brilliant golden rice season.
Besides, around Chin Khoanh slope, there are also many buckwheat fields, so if you come here in the last months of the year, tourists can also freely take pictures with this famous flower.

From the center of Ha Giang city, visitors follow Nguyen Trai street and then enter National Highway 4C to reach Bac Sum slope, taking about 3 hours to travel. This slope is located at an altitude of more than 1,400m above sea level, so when reaching the top of the slope, visitors can feel the cool air and fresh space.
After passing Bac Sum slope, visitors move to Quan Ba twin mountains and then continue through Yen Minh pine forest to reach Chin Khoanh slope. These are all famous check-in locations that visitors can combine experiences before reaching the "gateway to Dong Van stone plateau".
To have a safe and enjoyable trip, visitors should pay attention to the weather forecast, avoid climbing slopes in the evening or at night or traveling on rainy, windy, foggy or cloudy days because visibility is easily obstructed.
In addition, you need to check the vehicle carefully before departure, make sure the vehicle has a strong engine and a full tank of gas. You can bring spare gas and prepare basic car repair tools.
