This is a result that many people have predicted for the past few months, but it is contrary to what experts predicted at the beginning of the season.
After the departure of manager Jurgen Klopp, there were concerns that Liverpool would collapse. Many even believed that Liverpool would follow in the footsteps of Man United in the post-Alex Ferguson era.
It was all reflected in the comment of former Man United defender Gary Neville: "Klopp leaving will have serious consequences for Liverpool. I think Liverpool will experience failures this season. Liverpool is the underdog to Arsenal and Man City, I think that will not surprise anyone".
However, Liverpool have made all the comments "offside" when winning the Premier League championship this season. But if looking at the whole picture, there is nothing surprising with the success of coach Arne Slot's team.
In fact, the transition from Klopp to Slot at Liverpool was carefully prepared to avoid a "heat shock". In his farewell speech to Liverpool fans last season, Klopp mentioned Slot - his successor at Anfield. This was an act of absolute support for the Dutch strategist.
When Klopp announced his departure, many coaches were on the radar of Liverpool's board of directors. But Slot was chosen because of his many similarities with Klopp. Slot is not only a suitable coach in terms of expertise, he is also famous for being straightforward but also very skillful in communication, has excellent people management skills and the ability to improve the players available in the squad.
Before leaving Liverpool, Klopp had prepared for the future. The German strategist joked that in his last year with Liverpool, the team won 1 title (League Cup) which helped Slot "reduce the pressure".
But to be fair, in his final year at Liverpool, Klopp tried to build everything for his successor. The most obvious of which was his restructuring of the "outdated" midfield with several new stars such as Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai...
These players were not the type of players that Klopp was too fond of. But he still brought them to Anfield and started to build them as the core of his tactics. And when Slot arrived, he fully inherited and maximized the great things that Klopp left behind. With a tactical perspective that was not too different, Slot maintained stability at Liverpool and then flourished.
Slot was lucky to have Klopp's support and paved the way to success. But it must also be admitted that this season, rivals Man City and Arsenal have both had unexpected declines. All of these factors have helped Liverpool win the championship. Liverpool's success and Man United's failure after the transitions deserve to be a lesson for world football!
