With a length of about 10km flowing through the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Chay River has many beautiful rapids and many aquatic animals typical of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park containing diverse international biological values.
The most special thing about Chay River is the color of the water, some parts are emerald green, some are blue like sea water, and some are pale green mixed with yellow, which looks very strange. Some researchers explain that it is due to the limestone mountains being eroded and calcium dissolved over millions of years, making the water have a magical blue color, creating a picturesque landscape painting.

On both sides of the river are "rockery" with hundreds of thousands of shapes, there are giant trees hundreds of years old, spreading shade, there are trees full of ripe fruit, stretching their branches to cool the whole river... There are clusters of rocks undulating in the middle of the blue water, looking like a miniature Ha Long Bay.
On that beautiful river, there are many attractive experiential tourism products. More than 10 years ago, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park built a free zipline system at the Chay River-Dark Cave boat dock with 2 longest cables in Vietnam. This was the only project and the first in Quang Binh at that time and until now it still attracts tourists, especially international visitors.
On this free zipline, visitors can go from the shore to the middle of Chay River and then freely "jump" into the water or feel like they are flying on the way from the observation deck to the entrance of Dark Cave.

Chay River tourist destination is attracting many visitors with water sports or games, such as: water bikes, skateboards, SUP rowing... There are also many new check-in points, some floating houses are built in the middle of the river, creating a unique relaxing space, bringing a new feeling to visitors.
Dark Cave was discovered in 1990 with a length of nearly 6km and a height of 80m. It still retains its mysterious wildness with thousands of stalactites of diverse and unique shapes and is a hiding place for many animals such as bats and swallows.
In particular, the cave area is also a shelter for the Ha Tinh langur - a primate species listed in the Vietnam Red Book.

Not only adults but the experience in Dark Cave also brings excitement to children.
Because it is located right next to the river, the humidity is high, so the stalactites in Dark Cave are covered with a large amount of moss, creating a characteristic green color. There is no artificial lighting system in the cave, creating a mysterious space and a field of association for each person. Visitors moving in the cave must use headlamps.
Natural mineral mud in the cave is very good for human health, so soaking in mineral mud purified by limestone mountains in Dark Cave is always the top priority of domestic and foreign tourists when coming here.

Not only that, visitors will have an extremely interesting experience when swimming through the cool Thuy Tien Lake and Bong Lai Lake.
Also in Dark Cave, visitors will be surprised to see green plants, mainly ferns growing on stalactites. That shows the magic of nature in a living environment that always lacks natural light like in Phong Nha-Ke Bang Cave.
It is this attraction and many strange things that have helped the tour to explore Chay River - Dark Cave become the choice of many tourists when coming to Quang Tri this summer tourist season.
Director of Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center Hoang Minh Thang said that in order to serve the needs of tourists when visiting and experiencing tourism products on Chay River - Dark Cave, the unit has renovated the technical infrastructure, renovated the reception area, upgraded the service conditions in the caves; at the same time, added many new check-in points combining natural landscapes and unique geological values. Tourists also have more options with the continuous tour route between Phong Nha Cave - Tien Son Cave - Chay River - Dark Cave, opening up a diverse journey of discovering nature from the magical cave system to the poetic landscape along Son River and Chay River.
