On June 4, Lang Son General Hospital said that the patients in the case of 4 people eating poisonous mushrooms could be discharged that afternoon.
Previously, at around 11pm on June 3, the hospital received four people in a family with symptoms of poisoning after eating light pink mushrooms.
Four patients including HTM (70 years old), HVB (70 years old), HVL (35 years old) and HQT (15 years old) had symptoms of headache, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Relatives said that at around 7pm that same evening, the whole family ate light pink wild mushrooms - this type of mushroom had been used many times before.
Symptoms of poisoning appeared about two hours after eating. The patients were taken to hospital.
At the emergency room, doctors diagnosed the cause of poisoning as mushrooms, so they administered detoxifying fluids, washed the stomach, and gave activated charcoal sorbitol to absorb the poison.
With timely emergency care, everyone's health gradually stabilized.
According to a representative of the intensive care and anti-poison department of Lang Son General Hospital, many types of mushrooms have similar shapes and colors but different toxicity. Previously, the hospital received many poisoning cases due to people picking wild mushrooms and confusing them with edible mushrooms.
Therefore, doctors recommend that people absolutely do not pick or eat strange mushrooms, especially those in the forest or mushrooms of unknown origin. If you have symptoms of suspected poisoning such as headache, dizziness, nausea, or diarrhea, you should go to a medical facility immediately for timely treatment and emergency care.
