Da Nang closes Son Tra peninsula, lets students stay home from school

On the morning of November 5, the Department of Education of Da Nang City notified principals of schools and educational institutions to proactively let students stay home from school due to prolonged heavy rain and flooding on many streets.

Accordingly, schools and educational institutions proactively notify students to stay home on November 5 to ensure safety.

Regarding the flood, on the morning of November 5, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Tra district informed the authorities to set up a checkpoint on Hoang Sa street (Le Van Luong - Hoang Sa section) to prohibit people and vehicles from traveling to Son Tra peninsula because some landslides occurred, causing mud to flow onto the street.

Many roads in Da Nang are deeply flooded.

Specifically, the District Police coordinated with the District Military Command, Tho Quang Ward People's Committee, Son Tra Peninsula Management Board and Da Nang tourist beaches, Son Tra Border Guard Station and related functional forces to organize road closures, prohibiting people and vehicles from circulating on Son Tra Peninsula (except official vehicles).

According to information, in the past 6 hours (from 1:00 to 7:00 on November 5), Da Nang City had heavy to very heavy rain. The total rainfall in some places such as the Irrigation Department was 229.2mm, Son Tra was 221mm, Cam Le was 148.8mm...

In the next 6 hours, Da Nang City will continue to have rain, with heavy to very heavy rain in some places. Total rainfall is generally 60-140mm, with over 200mm in some places. Warnings of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and localized flooding in low-lying areas.
