Promoting initiatives and technical improvements in electricity production operations

More than 6 years ago, after going into operation to produce electricity to contribute to the national grid, the leaders of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant launched a movement of scientific research, technical innovation initiatives, and application solutions to actual production operations. This movement received enthusiastic response from the plant's staff and employees, bringing practical results.

Many solutions and initiatives are applied

The implementation of the emulation movement has encouraged the spirit of innovation and creativity of employees in applying technology, improving techniques and optimizing production processes. The initiatives not only bring direct economic benefits but also contribute to improving productivity and work quality. During the 5-year period (2020 - 2024), the factory's employees have promoted their capacity, researched, and brought about 55 technical innovation initiatives; of which 21 initiatives and solutions were recognized by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN). Among the EVN-level initiatives, there are contributions from young engineers in the Technical Department. The typical faces include enthusiastic and dynamic young engineers such as: Nguyen Trong Nhan, Tran Xuan Trinh Thuat, Ho Van Nhan, Ngo Van Nam, Tang Tan Huy, Pham Nhat Hoang, Nguyen Nhat Truong, Nguyen Hoang Thuc, Ho Vinh Trinh. One of the outstanding initiatives is the improvement of the secondary circuit to overcome the fault of the EDG backup generator of Unit S3, which effectively eliminates the fault immediately due to the failure of the important input channel, helping to immediately re-establish the backup generator system, saving costs from purchasing new AGC equipment or repair costs when having to send it back to the manufacturer.

At the same time, initiatives and solutions are registered with quality, practicality, and suitability to the actual situation of the factory. Some outstanding solutions and initiatives include: The initiative to improve the CFD-01 flap at the JT-02 transfer tower of the fuel system to help the operation be proactive and convenient, increase the unloading capacity of two CSUs (Continuous Ship Unloader), reduce the load on the conveyor motors, increase the availability of coal import routes from two CSUs (to the main coal warehouse, to the extended coal warehouse or to both warehouses at the same time). The mobile trash screen solution for the circulation channel helps to significantly reduce the amount of jellyfish entering the water circulation channel from 500 to 1,000 bags/day to 100 bags/day, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the power system. Or the chain of solutions to reduce dust emission into the environment; The chain of industrial water saving solutions in the factory includes: The solution to reuse treated wastewater to supply the misting system to suppress dust; Reusing lake water for watering plants instead of service water. Solution to improve slag boat system; Solution to optimize dust blowing system operation mode at Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant…

The applied initiatives have brought about efficiency such as improving labor productivity; reducing production costs, improving technical and economic efficiency; increasing the life and reliability of generators; and protecting the environment in the production process is increasingly effective and sustainable. Mr. Mac Duc Sinh, Head of the Technical Department, said: “The young engineers of the department always have the spirit of self-study, practice to improve their skills and professional qualifications during their work, meeting the production needs of the factory. Their initiatives are all highly applicable, cost-saving, and bring about technical management efficiency. I believe that with the support and encouragement from EVN, the factory's management board, engineers, and workers will promote their strengths in their work to bring about useful initiatives.”

Further development

Recently, at the 5-year advanced typical conference (2020-2025), Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Party Secretary, Director of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant, praised the efforts of the staff to promote practical emulation movements in scientific research, technical innovation initiatives, "Digital transformation in EVN", "Safe, flexible and effective adaptation", "Successful implementation of tasks and plans for 2025". Each year has a theme, each movement has a focus, not showing off the form but focusing on promoting efficiency in each stage of production. The factory has exceeded 107% of the initiative target in the "10,000 initiatives" program launched by EVN Trade Union. Many topics have high practical value such as "A chain of industrial water-saving solutions in the factory including: Solution to reuse treated wastewater for misting system to suppress dust; Reuse of pond water for watering plants instead of service water"; “Solutions to improve the slag boat system”; “A series of solutions to reduce dust emissions into the environment”… both reduce operating costs and improve the working environment, protecting the environment.

“We do not compete for achievements but compete to grow and contribute. Competition starts from daily work, each small initiative, each safe operation, each effective equipment control is the result of seriousness, intelligence and dedication. From a newly established factory, lacking experience, lacking human resources, lacking a management model, we have gradually stabilized, built an operating culture, created a foundation of safety - efficiency - exceeding productivity. With the effort to overcome difficulties, the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, each unit can overcome challenges and rise up with its own internal strength. I am impressed with seemingly simple initiatives such as improving the conveyor system, adjusting the operating logic... but bringing great efficiency. We need more people who dare to think, dare to do, dare to show", Mr. Vu Thanh Hai shared.
