This comment was made by Mr. Bui Minh Tuan - Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs Startup Incubator Management Joint Stock Company (YESI) - at the workshop "Developing resources and signing ceremony of cooperation on innovation and artificial intelligence (AI)" held on the morning of June 24 in Hanoi . According to Mr. Tuan, although many businesses are approaching AI technology, not everyone can exploit it effectively to create a competitive advantage. AI only plays the role of a supporting tool; the true value of this technology is only promoted when users have a heart, vision and understand customers.

Mr. Bui Minh Tuan - Chairman of Young Entrepreneurs Startup Incubator Management Joint Stock Company (YESI) - emphasized: "AI may be the same, but users make the difference."
In addition, Mr. Tuan emphasized that applying AI to operational processes – from automation to customer outreach and business management – can help optimize costs and improve efficiency. However, he noted that success depends largely on whether a business has “clean data” and a long-term vision. These factors play a fundamental role in maximizing the power of AI, instead of just using it to build a superficial image.
A recent survey by McKinsey also shows a clear divide in the ability to utilize AI in Vietnam. About 70% of businesses have experimented with this technology, but only 23% of them have implemented it effectively. This significant difference shows that the big problem today is not whether AI is available or not, but the ability to “know how to use it” – clearly understanding its nature, applying it correctly, and linking it to specific goals.

From another perspective, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dat – Director of Tekmind, an AI training expert – warned that the rapid development of AI, especially generative tools, is posing many challenges. According to him, AI promotes the process of personalizing content and increasing the speed of creativity, but also causes the phenomenon of misinformation on social networks to explode.
“ Fake news, toxic news, and unverified news spread at breakneck speed without a proper censorship mechanism. Meanwhile, the legal framework related to copyright of AI-generated content in Vietnam is still very vague, posing many potential risks of future disputes ,” Mr. Dat warned.
Vietnam is gradually becoming a strategic destination for large technology corporations in the field of AI. In April 2024, Nvidia announced that it would choose Hanoi as the location for its first R&D center and AI data center in Southeast Asia. Not only creating thousands of high-quality jobs, this event also opens up opportunities for Vietnamese students to directly access the world's leading advanced technologies.
Following the wave of investment, in June 2025, Qualcomm officially opened an AI research and development center in Ho Chi Minh City. Notably, the group signed a cooperation agreement with 15 universities, implementing an AI engineering training program from the second year. Students will be exposed to real-life problems and will be committed to being recruited if they achieve excellent results - a cooperation model that experts consider to "pave the way for sustainable AI development from the roots ofeducation ".
At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Hung - Party Secretary, Principal of the College of Radio and Television 1 - also gave a strong message: " Bringing AI into training, startups and production is no longer a story of the distant future, but an urgent requirement of the present. If we only rely on large corporations, we will not have enough strength to successfully transform digitally. What needs to be done is to start from education - from small classes, specific startup projects - where young people learn how to think and solve problems with technology ."

An important highlight of the event was the signing ceremony of the strategic cooperation agreement between VOVedu, Tekmind and YESI. Immediately after the signing ceremony, the pilot program “Practical course on AI application in modern journalism and media” was launched. The goal of the course is to equip reporters, editors and media personnel with the ability to proficiently use generative AI tools such as NotebookLM, Google AI Studio, and at the same time train innovative thinking in content production.

Mr. Nguyen Tat Dat – CEO of Tekmind – believes that AI is not simply a technological tool, but has become a “language” characteristic of the digital age. According to him, the application of AI in training needs to closely follow reality and constantly update global trends. “ Students and young startups not only need to know how to use AI, but also need to know what to use it for – to create something, solve a problem, and bring value. That is the real competitiveness in the knowledge economy,” Mr. Dat emphasized.
In recent times, Vietnam has made clear steps in developing AI, from preferential tax policies, research support with a budget of thousands of billions of VND, to a commitment to train 500,000 AI workers from now until 2030. Thanks to that, Vietnam has entered the top 50 leading countries in the AI Global Index for the first time.
