Mr. Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that June 13 marked a particularly important milestone in the city's development journey, which was the Prime Minister's decision to approve the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
Da Nang Free Trade Zone functions as a production, logistics, trade, service, digital industry, innovation and other functional areas associated with seaports, international airports, financial centers and economic zones, industrial parks.
In particular, the logistics production functional area will play an important role, contributing to making Da Nang a production center, an international freight transit center, linked with Lien Chieu port, Tien Sa port, Ky Ha port, Da Nang international airport, Chu Lai airport and the East-West economic corridor.

“The merger of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province into a new city, becoming the leading urban area in the country in terms of scale and strategy, opens up a new opportunity to develop into a leading logistics trade center in Vietnam and the region,” the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee emphasized.
The leader of the People's Committee of Da Nang City also said that with its strategic location, the city possesses a synchronous and diverse transport infrastructure system, an advantage to break through and become an Asia-Pacific supply chain.
In particular, Da Nang International Airport and Chu Lai Airport are like two doors opening to the world. Lien Chieu, Tien Sa and Chu Lai Ports are three spearheads reaching out to the ocean, connecting to the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The network of highways, railways, etc. create the backbone of the entire region.

Currently, Da Nang city is one of the largest centrally-run cities in the country. Da Nang also forms a synchronous connection between Quang Nam (old) and Da Nang (old).
Da Nang is the only locality in the country with 2 international airports. This is both an advantage and raises the question of how Da Nang should connect and form a logistics chain from Da Nang airport to Chu Lai airport.
In the immediate future, Da Nang city has determined that in the eastern region, from Da Nang airport to Chu Lai airport, a chain of urban areas will be formed along the coast and a key area for socio-economic development in the east will be formed to contribute to supporting the development of the west.
Da Nang city leaders said that the city is orienting to develop logistics in a modern, synchronous, and sustainable direction, gradually turning the city into a national logistics center with an international role.
In particular, the focus is on developing the marine economy, which is an important traffic hub of the whole country, the main gateway to the East Sea and the key economic zone of the Central region and the East-West economic corridor.
Da Nang currently has 3 seaports. Of these, Lien Chieu port is under construction, Tien Sa port has been converted from a cargo port to a tourism service and Ky Ha port has been developed into a logistics center.
“We wish to open up new investment opportunities, especially in the logistics sector, which will shape Da Nang’s growth and competitiveness in the coming decades. At the same time, we appreciate ideas, initiatives, and sharing that contribute to building and developing logistics activities in the city and the region,” said the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee.
