This morning (December 21), the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, Da Nang City Department of Tourism held a ceremony to receive and plant coconut trees at Da Nang tourist beaches.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu, Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches, Da Nang is a coastal city, known to domestic and foreign tourists for its long beaches, fine white sand and cool green coconut groves.

With the desire to create a more beautiful beach landscape as well as add green to the beach space, contributing to the formation of a lively and attractive landscape serving people and tourists, minimizing the impact of climate change, limiting coastal erosion and landslides, implementing the policy of the City Party Committee, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has issued a plan, in which the Department of Tourism is assigned to direct the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches to deploy the work of calling and mobilizing agencies, organizations, businesses and people in Da Nang city to join hands to contribute coconut trees to plant at Da Nang tourist beaches.

"After 1 month of implementation, the Management Board has received nearly 700 coconut trees out of a total of 3,497 coconut trees planned to be planted on the beach from more than 40 organizations, agencies, businesses and individuals living and working in Da Nang city," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu.

Leaders of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang city, the Management Board of Son Tra peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches received contributions for coconut planting from agencies, organizations and businesses.

According to the plan, the time to organize coconut planting on the two coastal routes Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Hoang Sa and Nguyen Tat Thanh route is divided into 2 phases: Phase 1 from December 2024 to the end of the first quarter of 2025 and phase 2 from April 2025 to the end of the third quarter of 2025.

"Currently, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches is carrying out the first coconut planting with more than 300 coconut trees in the Man Thai beach area, Man Thai ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang. In the coming time, the Management Board continues to call for contributions and support from social organizations and individuals who love the environment to continue implementing the task of planting coconuts according to the plan assigned by the city", Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu added.

Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong and Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh awarded certificates to units contributing to planting coconut trees at Da Nang tourist beaches.

Each coconut tree is not only a symbol of the love of nature of the people of Da Nang but also has great significance in minimizing the impact of climate change, limiting coastal erosion and landslides.
