Specifically, according to Decision No. 1138/QD-TTg dated October 2, 2023 of the Prime Minister, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City is a public service unit under the State Bank of Vietnam under the decision-making authority of the Prime Minister.

The above Decision takes effect from October 2, 2023.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking (HUB) was officially established under Decision No. 174/2003/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister .

Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City was established on the basis of Ho Chi Minh City Branch of Banking Academy. The school has the task of training university-level human resources in the field of currency - credit and banking and scientific research to serve socio-economic development.

Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a multi-disciplinary and prestigious university in the group of universities in Southeast Asia.

According to HUB, the school currently has more than 13,000 students studying at all levels from undergraduate, master's, and doctoral with 7 majors and more than 40 training programs.

HUB's staff of nearly 500 officers, lecturers and employees, including 18 Associate Professors, 142 PhDs and 239 Masters, are not only experienced experts, researchers and managers, but also dedicated teachers to students.

HUB has 03 training facilities with 02 facilities in the center of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City and 01 facility in Thu Duc with a total area of ​​up to 11 hectares invested in spacious and modern construction.

HUB is in the top 50 universities and is one of the two universities in the economic sector with the best international publications in Vietnam (Scopus data, DTU Research, 2019).

The school has been granted domestic and international accreditation certificates such as: Certificate of accreditation of higher education quality according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam (MOET); 06 training programs have been granted international accreditation certificates according to the standards of the Association of Southeast Asian Universities (Asean University Network - Quality Assurance - AUN-QA); Certificate of Quality Management System according to ISO 9001:2015 standards of the Afnor Organization of the French Republic.
