On June 10, Van Ho district held the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities in 2024.
Attending the Congress were leaders of the Provincial Ethnic Committee; Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of Van Ho district and 150 delegates representing more than 66,000 ethnic minorities in the district.
Van Ho district has 14 communes with 5 ethnic groups living together, of which ethnic minorities account for 93.6% of the district's population. From 2021 to present, Van Ho district has been assigned over 336 billion VND, implementing over 80 projects under 3 national target programs, building rural infrastructure and works serving people's daily life and production; supporting land and housing for 121 households; organizing 15 vocational training classes for more than 470 ethnic minorities in poor and near-poor households. Up to now, the whole district has 3 communes meeting new rural standards; the poverty rate has decreased to 17.7%, down more than 15% compared to 2019.
Social security policies for ethnic minorities have been effectively implemented. In the period of 2019-2024, Van Ho district has exempted and reduced tuition fees and supported study costs for more than 70,800 students with a total amount of over 47.5 billion VND; issued 60,099 health insurance cards to ethnic minorities, poor households, and near-poor households. The District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office supported 13,349 customers to borrow capital under preferential credit programs for economic development with a total outstanding debt of over 517 billion VND...
With the spirit of "Solidarity; innovation, promoting potentials and advantages; integration and sustainable development", the Congress set a number of targets by 2029, such as: 100% of roads from the commune to the village center are hardened; 100% of households have regular and safe access to electricity; the rate of people participating in health insurance reaches over 96.5%; creating new jobs for 1,000 workers; 100% of villages and sub-areas have cultural houses; over 95% of schools are recognized as meeting national standards; the poverty rate decreases by 4-5% each year...
The congress consulted and elected 10 official delegates and 2 alternate delegates to attend the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Son La province in 2024.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 individuals; the Provincial Ethnic Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 individuals; the Chairman of the District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 30 individuals and 5 collectives with many achievements in implementing ethnic work and ethnic policies in the period of 2019-2024.
