Memorial service for 39 victims of boat accident in Ha Long Bay

The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere with the participation of Most Venerable Thich Quang Tung, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Committee for Wisdom and Goodness of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Most Venerable Thich Thanh Quyet, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Committee for Buddhist Education , Head of the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Buddhist Sangha. Comrades: Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Trinh Thi Minh Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Vu Quyet Tien, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with representatives of functional departments, relatives of the victims, monks, nuns and Buddhists.

The prayer program takes place from early morning until 9:00 p.m. on July 28, including the following rituals: Opening ceremony; Ha Ba soul calling ceremony (bridge building ceremony); welcoming ceremony; inviting the deceased; Buddha's great examination; opening ceremony; summoning the three palaces; karmic remission ceremony; offering food and offering equal food to the souls on land and in water; releasing flower lanterns...

Previously, a waterway traffic accident occurred in Ha Long Bay, killing 39 people. Immediately after the incident, Quang Ninh province mobilized all functional forces to organize search and rescue work in complicated weather conditions. The province also resolutely directed the handling of the incident, at the same time supported the victims' families in arranging funeral arrangements, moving the bodies and encouraging relatives to overcome the pain.

Provincial leaders, departments, branches and relatives of the victims burned incense to commemorate the victims at the Grand Requiem Mass.

The grand memorial service is not only a farewell and a tribute to the deceased, but also demonstrates Vietnamese culture in expressing gratitude and sharing the loss with families whose loved ones unfortunately died in the accident on Ha Long Bay. Thereby, it demonstrates the responsibility, humanitarian spirit and deep sympathy of the province with the victims’ relatives, continuing to strengthen the people’s trust in the local government in handling emergency situations and protecting the safety of tourists.

The memorial service for the 39 victims of the boat accident in Ha Long Bay will take place until 9pm on July 28, in accordance with Buddhist rituals.

The province will continue to review and tighten the management of waterway traffic safety, especially in Ha Long Bay and other key tourist destinations. In particular, it will focus on checking and monitoring the technical conditions of vehicles, crew capacity, rescue work, as well as compliance with regulations on waterway passenger transport; promote the application of technology in the management of vehicles, travel routes, weather conditions and safety warning information, in order to improve the effectiveness of accident prevention and emergency handling. Thereby, aiming to build a civilized, safe and friendly tourism environment.
