Cruise ship carrying 53 people sinks in Ha Long Bay: Rescue update

At around 1:45 p.m. on July 19, due to a sudden storm, near Dau Go Cave, Ha Long Bay, a tourist boat with registration number QN-7105 sank.

Immediately after receiving the information, the authorities of Quang Ninh province urgently deployed rescue and relief work. At the time of the accident, there were 48 passengers and 5 crew members on board.

Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, was present at the scene to directly direct the rescue work, ensuring the safety of tourists and crew members.

As of the evening of July 19, rescue work is still being urgently deployed, with the highest priority being to ensure the safety of people and tourists.

At 5:00 p.m. on July 19, the Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard said that the unit coordinated with other forces to rescue 10 people.

Currently, the ship owner has not been contacted. According to the announcement of Hon Gai Port Border Gate, the border guards are urgently approaching to rescue.

Authorities were present at the scene, carrying out search and rescue operations.

By 5:45 p.m. the same day, authorities had rescued 10 people, including passengers and crew members (Quang Ninh Provincial Border Guard rescued 7 people, civilian boats rescued 3 people). Authorities also recovered the bodies of some victims.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee Vu Dai Thang directly directed the rescue work; at the same time, assigned Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Pham Duc An to directly go to the scene to direct the rescue work, ensuring the safety of tourists and crew members.
