At least three people were killed and five others injured in a multi-vehicle crash on May 22 on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale, California, USA.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved six vehicles.
Officials said a northbound pickup truck crashed into the median and five cars behind it collided with the pickup truck.
Three people died on the spot and five injured were taken to local hospitals.
According to the California Department of Transportation , several lanes on the highway were temporarily closed to assist in the recovery efforts following the accident.
Earlier, at least 7 people were killed and 4 injured in a serious traffic accident in the state of Oregon, Northwest of the US.
A pickup truck crashed into a passenger van with 11 people inside. The collision killed six people inside the van at the scene. A seventh victim was taken to the hospital but also died.
The four other people in the van were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
Police arrested the driver of the pickup truck, 52-year-old Lincoln Clayton Smith.
He was charged with drunken driving and seven counts of manslaughter, and also faces charges of reckless driving and third-degree assault.
This is one of the deadliest traffic accidents in Oregon in recent years.
