Director of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Meritorious Artist Trinh Tung Linh, said: "Vietnam has had to go through many difficulties, from the Covid-19 pandemic, economic impacts and now natural disasters and floods, but the spirit of solidarity and sharing is always evident. Volunteer activities, "helping each other" are carried out at many times, becoming a fine tradition in the character of the Vietnamese people. Therefore, responding to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; implementing the direction of the Party Committee, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also promote the tradition of "mutual love", "a piece when hungry is worth a package when full" of the Vietnamese people, we also wish to use our professional work to propagate and spread this spirit to our audience."
Accordingly, the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra will perform the concert "Lalo - Stravinsky" at the Hanoi Opera House on the evening of September 17.
Sharing about the content of the program, Meritorious Artist Trinh Tung Linh said: "Like other concerts, we will perform classical and classic concert pieces. However, in this concert, we will incorporate a Vietnamese piece to perform at the opening of the program, which is the piece "Return to Motherland" by Musician Nguyen Van Thuong. This is a special piece of music because of its strong national sound, with a sad, lyrical color that goes deep into the Vietnamese soul. Through the work, the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra wishes to send its deepest condolences to the families of the soldiers and victims of the recent storm No. 3."
The work "Return to the Motherland" has been adapted from the original cello and piano version into many versions for different instruments, and there is a rarely performed version for symphony orchestra.
