Registering for the 2023 High School Graduation Exam: Notes

At 5:00 p.m. this afternoon (May 13), grade 12 students will finish registering for the 2023 high school graduation exam online and the Ministry of Education and Training's exam management system will also officially close. Thanks to early initiative, up to this point, the exam registration in the province has been smooth for both candidates and officials in charge of the exam registration.

Grade 12 students of Bac Lieu High School for the Gifted were informed of the exam regulations and regulations for registering for the 2023 high school graduation exam.

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Bac Lieu, up to now, the whole province has 5,619 candidates who have registered for high school graduation in 2023 online on the Examination Management System. Of which, 4,710 candidates registered for graduation and admission; 725 candidates for graduation only; 184 candidates for admission only; 158 independent candidates registered directly and no candidates registered directly through public services.

Mr. Duong Hong Tan - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: “Foreseeing the situation of possible network congestion due to the sudden and massive number of candidates registering at certain times in the Examination Management System, causing difficulties for candidates' registration, the Department of Education and Training previously issued Official Dispatch 532 guiding the organization, implementation and dissemination of the Examination Regulations and regulations on registration for high school graduation in 2023 to all units. Thanks to that, high schools, provincial Continuing Education Centers and Continuing Education Centers guide candidates to register in a spread-out manner, not concentrated at the same time. Currently, the registration period is still available (until 5:00 p.m. on May 13, 2023), so if there is a sudden increase in registration, they can re-register at another time”.

Through direct exchange and recording with the registration units, the process of organizing online registration for candidates did not encounter any difficulties or disadvantages, but this form also created many advantages for both candidates and officers in charge of registration such as: shortening time, limiting errors in the process of entering registration forms. However, in the process of online registration, candidates still made many mistakes such as: wrong contact address, wrong place of residence leading to wrong priority status...

For independent students, they will register at the Continuing Education Center - Hanoi or any Continuing Education Center in the province. According to the Department's direction, at all centers, there are staff assigned to guide the registration process to support students quickly and promptly.

Prioritize all conditions

In order for the registration process to go smoothly and create the most favorable conditions for candidates, from April 26 to April 28, high schools across the province provided candidates studying in grade 12 for the 2022-2023 school year with accounts and passwords to access the Exam Management System. Candidates were allowed to try online registration on the Exam Management System immediately after being granted accounts and passwords until April 30. Accordingly, grade 12 students across the province had time to get used to logging in, changing passwords and were guided by schools on how to perform the steps according to regulations. Because the official registration period lasted up to 10 days, many candidates spent more than half of their time consulting and considering their wishes before registering.

According to some DKDT support staff, as well as TS, the biggest difficulty for students during the registration process is prioritizing their choices. A 12th grade student of Ninh Thanh Loi High School (Hong Dan District) shared that he planned to register for 9 choices in different majors of the Academy of Finance. In addition, he also prioritized schools in the Pedagogical sector, including Mathematics Pedagogy. To ensure safety, not only him but almost all TS registered for more or less 10 choices.

Along with registering their wishes, TS also has to register for combined exams to be considered for high school graduation recognition. However, this does not cause difficulties for TS because they have been oriented beforehand and have early choices to plan their review and registration accordingly.

In addition to providing guidance and close support to promptly resolve any problems that students may have during the registration process, high schools also assign responsibility to homeroom teachers and student support departments to provide counseling to each student. For students who do not have a phone or computer, the units also use computer rooms to prioritize serving students who register at school.

Not only that, schools are also determined to prepare the necessary facilities and equipment; organize the inspection and cross-checking of information on candidates' registration, registration for recognition of high school graduation, or admission... according to the direction of the Department of Education and Training to minimize risks and unnecessary errors for candidates. In particular, units pay special attention to information on priority areas, incentive points in considering recognition of high school graduation, information on preferential treatment in considering university and college admission, the organization of storing registration records of candidates...

Thanks to the early thoughtfulness and initiative, the implementation of the organization of the high school graduation exam in the province has been quite favorable. This will contribute to creating momentum for the success of organizing the 2023 high school graduation exam in the province at the end of June.
