Dislocated Son Heung-min at Asian Cup, Korean star apologizes

According to Yonhap , a conflict broke out between Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in right before the Asian Cup semi-final. Specifically, during dinner before the match against Jordan, some players including Lee Kang-in, Seol Young Woo, Jung Woo Young ate very quickly, then left to play table tennis.

When he heard Lee Kang-in and his friends making noise, Son Heung-min went over to warn them but only received a challenging attitude from Lee Kang-in. Son grabbed Lee by the neck and was then punched by the PSG player. The scuffle resulted in the captain of the Korean national team dislocating his hand.

Son's hand was injured on his return to Tottenham.

Afterwards, a group of influential players in the Korean team's locker room asked coach Jurgen Klinsmann to remove Lee Kang-in from the list of players for the match against Jordan because of his inappropriate attitude.

However, the German strategist ignored this opinion and still let Lee Kang-in play the full 90 minutes against Jordan. As a result, the East Asian representative lost 0-2 and lost their dream of winning the Asian Cup after more than 60 years of waiting.

On the afternoon of February 14, the Korea Football Association (KFA) also confirmed the incident: "The incident occurred when a group of young players wanted to play table tennis and had a conflict with Son Heung-min."

Under pressure from public opinion, Lee Kang-in had to apologize: " I should have listened to my teammates' advice. We left a bad image in the hearts of fans. I am truly sorry for disappointing many people. From now on, I will work hard for the national team and become a better person."

At the end of March, Lee Kang-in and Son Heung-min will return to duty for the Korean national team in the World Cup qualifiers. Both of their matches will be against Thailand (March 21 and March 26).
