Two concerts of the animated film Symphonic Anime Vietnam Arc - Heroic sounds of childhood at the Hanoi Opera House on the evening of September 6-7 were filled with audiences.
The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra brought melodies from the world of Japanese anime, familiar to Vietnamese moviegoers over the years. Although not unexpected, this happy ending was still a joy for the co-organizers: Saigon Symphony Orchestra (SPO), Hanoi Opera House, 54Entertaiment Company and Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.
Symphonic Anime Vietnam Arc - The heroic sounds of childhood at Hanoi Opera House
Before coming to Vietnam, Symphonic Anime concert was one of the most popular concert series of Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. They brought the melodies that made up the childhood of the 8X, 9X generation and the generations after. The background music and songs from famous Japanese anime were performed by the symphony orchestra accompanied by choir. Those melodies were both familiar and very new to the audience.
"The Symphony Orchestra broke all barriers to bring to young audiences a night of animated film concerts full of youthful imagery and emotion, touching the hearts of all audiences who love the performing arts combined with Japanese animated music .
The show shows the borderless cultural exchange of East Asian cultures, although different, there are still many similarities. The Symphonic Anime Concert simply conquered the hearts of the audience," said Mr. Bao Anh, SPO Artistic Director.
The famous Faceless character in Japanese animation
Mr. Bao Anh was also proud that the animated film music had never been so majestic and lively. The group of 150 artists and the choir revived the "children" full of passion, desire, love, friendship and dreams that had "slept". The concert truly revived the strong youthful spirit of each audience member.
The Symphonic Anime Vietnam Arc - The heroic sound of childhood concert also reminds us of many recent concerts with film and animation music. Among them, there was a performance by the Sun Symphony Orchestra at the Ho Guom Theater (Hanoi) in the opening program of this theater. There, the soundtracks of Romeo and Juliet , Titanic , West Side Story... made symphony music closer to those who are not used to going to the theater to listen to symphonies.
After many symphony programs bringing international artists to Vietnam, Mr. Bao Anh shared: "We have 12 shows each year in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 with enthusiastic reception from the audience. The shows are always full and gather many international musicians to perform with Vietnamese artists."
Those are the nights when SPO goes abroad, bringing international artists to Vietnam to perform symphony concerts, opera performances and now animation concerts.
Regarding the future of animated film concerts, Mr. Bao Anh said: "Foreign artists see Vietnam as a potential playground to develop this music genre, as well as symphony in general."
