Spreading love from 'Red Journey - Thai Nguyen, thousands of pink hearts'

The 11th “Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood” program and the “Thai Nguyen - Thousands of Red Hearts” Blood Donation Festival opened on the evening of June 9 in Thai Nguyen City. The event was organized by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee in coordination with the Central Red Journey Organizing Committee, aiming to spread the message of love and sharing for the life of the community.

Representative of the Central Red Journey Organizing Committee presented a souvenir flag to the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation in Thai Nguyen province.

Attending the program were comrades Vu Thanh Luu, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society ; Nguyen Quang Tung, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the National "Red Journey" 2025; Nguyen Linh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, Head of the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donation in the province.

Speaking at the Program, Comrade Vu Thanh Luu emphasized: Thai Nguyen has always been one of the leading localities, actively contributing to the voluntary blood donation movement of the whole country. The slogan "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" has become a call to touch hearts, arousing the strength of the community in the journey to save people.

Over the past 15 years, Thai Nguyen province has mobilized and received over 295,000 units of blood, of which 100% were voluntary blood donations, the rate of blood donation population increased from 0.45% to 2.35% in 2024 (exceeding the national average).

The “Red Journey” in 2025 will take place in 49 provinces and cities, with the goal of collecting over 120,000 units of blood. In Thai Nguyen alone, this is the 11th consecutive year the province has organized this humane event.

This year, with the theme “Thai Nguyen, thousands of red hearts”, the program aims to mobilize over 2,500 participants and receive at least 2,000 units of blood. The program takes place from June 1 to July 28 with a series of response activities such as: cheering parades, giving gifts to patients with congenital hemolytic anemia, organizing mobile blood donation campaigns, etc.

The Organizing Committee commended groups and individuals who made many contributions to the blood donation movement.

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 20 gifts to families with blood disease patients being treated at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital; awarded Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation to 30 groups and 45 individuals with outstanding achievements in propaganda and mobilization of blood donation. 50 outstanding examples in the 2025 blood donation movement were also honored.
