Strengthening the prevention of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed and issued Official Dispatch No. 72/CD-TTg on continuing to step up the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

The telegram stated: In the past time, ministries, branches, localities and functional forces have made many efforts in implementing the Directives, Telegrams and directions of the Prime Minister on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, including Telegram No. 65/CD-TTg dated May 15, 2025 on launching a peak period to fight against and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights.

The peak period has initially detected, fought, prevented, and handled many cases and violators in the production and trade of fake milk, medicine, and food.

However, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement is still very complicated.

To continue to promote the fight, prevent, repel and eventually end smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights; to protect the legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses, the Prime Minister requested the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations to continue to closely coordinate with ministries, branches and authorities at all levels in mobilizing businesses and people to actively and responsibly participate in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods to detect early, combat and prevent right from the grassroots, from the place of origin. The Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committees and the Central City Party Committees continue to lead and direct Party committees at all levels and the entire political system at the local level to participate in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

The Prime Minister requested Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies, Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to continue to launch and strengthen the direction of functional forces and units to step up the peak period of the fight to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights; continue to step up the peak period of attacks with greater determination, fierceness, and greater efforts; promptly detect and strictly handle violators; and at the same time, strictly handle cadres, civil servants, and officers who show signs of moral degradation, corruption, negativity, protection, and abetting of law violators.
