Promote communication about the consequences and harms of drugs

The Ministry of Health has just sent an official dispatch to its affiliated units and the Departments of Health of provinces and centrally run cities on the implementation of the Action Month on Drug Prevention and Control in 2025 in the health sector.

Implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control in Official Dispatch No. 4685 on the implementation of the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2025 (taking place from June 1-30) with the theme "Sharing a common determination - For a drug-free community", the Ministry of Health requested units in the health sector to deploy a number of contents in response to the Action Month for Drug Prevention and Control in 2025.

Specifically, units will promote propaganda and dissemination of policies and laws on drug prevention and control; focus on clarifying the consequences and harms of illegal use, production, trading and transportation of drugs. Diversify communication forms, effectively promote channels such as electronic information pages, social networks, mobile platforms, ensuring suitability for each target group.

At the same time, the units closely coordinate with local police forces in determining drug addiction status; enhance the capacity of grassroots medical staff, especially at commune-level health stations; report to the Provincial People's Committee to allocate funds for investment in upgrading, repairing, and infrastructure systems to meet the work of determining drug addiction status in the locality; organize inspections, checks, and strictly control the business, purchase, and use of pharmaceutical ingredients containing addictive substances, psychotropic substances, and precursors used to make drugs, in order to prevent their exploitation for the production of synthetic drugs; take the lead in coordinating with relevant sectors to promote the implementation of treatment of opioid addiction with Methadone locally.

In Phu Yen , the cumulative number of patients registered for treatment of opioid addiction with Methadone is 134 people, currently 32 patients are still being treated.
