(CPV) - The 220kV Hai Chau transformer station is the most modern station not only in Da Nang city but also in the Central Highlands. This is one of the achievements in the process of promoting the application of science and technology of Power Transmission Company 2 to improve the efficiency of management and operation of the transmission grid.
Without the unit nameplate, few people would know that this is a 220kV transformer station (Panorama of Hai Chau 220kV GIS Station) |
Nguyen Tat Thanh Street runs along the coast of Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City, bustling with people, but not everyone recognizes the presence of a high-tech transformer station, one of the most modern in the heart of the city. Only by looking at the nameplate can people know that this is the Hai Chau 220kV Transformer Station (GIS 220kV Station).
The 220kV Hai Chau GIS Substation was invested in and constructed by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and handed over to Power Transmission Company 2 (PTC2) for operation on September 30, 2024. The 220kV Hai Chau GIS Substation is a transformer station belonging to the Ngu Hanh Son Mobile Operation Team (TTLĐ) (Da Nang Power Transmission) and is operated in an unmanned station mode.
Mr. Le Tuan Anh - Director of Da Nang Power Transmission said: Our unit was assigned by PTC2 to manage 523.531 km, 849 220kV - 500kV line pole positions, 1 500kV transformer station, 2 Mobile Operation Teams (3 220kV transformer stations) with a total capacity of 2,902 MVA supplying electricity to Da Nang city and surrounding areas. One of the 220kV transformer stations that the unit manages is the 220kV Hai Chau GIS Station, which applies the BIM (Building Information Modeling) design model, with a design scale of 2 250MVA transformers. In the first phase, the station installed a 250MVA transformer connected to 2 220kV Hoa Khanh - Hai Chau and Da Nang - Hai Chau lines, in which the length of the underground cable route includes 2 circuits of more than 7.3 km (this is also the first 220kV underground cable route in Da Nang city); built a 22kV underground cable route with a length of 121m to supply self-consumption power to the 220kV Hai Chau substation.

The 220kV Hai Chau transformer station is applied with GIS (Gas Insulation Switchgear) technology, including closed-type switching devices insulated with SF6 gas. This means that the entire equipment is insulated with gas and placed in SF6 gas insulated pipes, not exposed to the environment, so the equipment is very safe to operate and especially the equipment maintenance time according to the manufacturer's recommendations is very short. With GIS technology, this is the most modern and synchronized transformer station not only in Da Nang city but also in the Central Highlands.
Mr. Do Van Minh - Head of Ngu Hanh Son TTLĐ Team said: The station operates with an integrated control system, automating the transformer station based on a computer system including hardware devices and software configured, building a database on the Toshiba GSC1000-C platform. The computer integrated control system controls and automatically monitors the equipment in the station and integrates the collected data into a common system to serve the operation management. The collected data includes communication information, protective relays, electrical equipment control, measurement, incident reporting, automatic control of the distribution system, put into a data storage system, control and unification in the station.
Mr. Minh added: To operate the Hai Chau 220kV GIS Station, PTC2 has organized staff selection, training, certification, technology understanding, learning electrical safety procedures, fire prevention, and operating experience at the Tao Dan 220kV GIS Station ( Ho Chi Minh City)... Previously, when the transformer stations were first converted from normal operation mode to unmanned operation mode, the operators had to participate in many training courses, receive certificates, and change their working habits to adapt to the modern working environment.
Through studying, training and practical training, the operators have confidently approached new and modern technology. With the nature of operating unmanned transformer stations, which is very strict and has limited manpower, not only must we ensure 5 shifts of 3 teams operating 24/24 every day of the year, but we must also perform many other related tasks.
Mr. Le Dinh Chien - Director of Power Transmission Company 2 inspected the operation situation at Hai Chau 220kV GIS Station |
Ngu Hanh Son TTLĐ Group manages two 220kV Ngu Hanh Son and Hai Chau transformer stations, which are two 220kV transformer stations located in the city center, both of which operate in unmanned mode. In recent years, Da Nang Power Transmission in particular and PTC2 in general have focused on promoting digital transformation and automation technology in all production activities and transmission grid management and operation.
The application of science and technology to develop the power transmission grid is what PTC2 and other units in the Electricity industry are aiming for. In which, the 220kV Hai Chau GIS Station is the most modern station not only in Da Nang city but also in the Central Highlands. This is one of the achievements in the process of promoting the application of science and technology of PTC2 to improve the efficiency of the management and operation of the power transmission grid to contribute with EVNNPT to ensure sufficient electricity supply for socio-economic development, ensuring national security and defense of Da Nang city and the whole region.
