The Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1274, dated October 26, 2024, on approving the investment policy and approving the investor. Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) as the investor, and EVN assigned the Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1) to manage the project. The project has a very urgent schedule, must complete construction and energize before August 19, 2025, according to the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 81/CD-TTg dated June 3, 2025.

The project route through the old Phu Tho province is currently 8 communes: Quang Yen, Doan Hung, Bang Luan, Tay Coc, Chan Mong, Tram Than, Phu My, Dan Chu. As of July 26, the project has completed the handover of 94/94 column foundation locations in 8 communes; 80 households must be resettled. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agreed with the proposal of Chan Mong commune to gather experienced officials and civil servants who are in charge of site clearance work for this project from the old communes to Chan Mong commune to work to speed up the project's progress. The Party Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Committee are responsible to the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee if there are any delays in the commune. The investor directed the contractor to mobilize maximum means and human resources, and have a construction plan to soon connect the power as planned before August 19, 2025.
