The Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Phu Tho province has just issued a document requesting the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Tho province to stop the search for missing victims at Phong Chau bridge.
According to the document, immediately after the Phong Chau bridge collapse, the Provincial Military Command established two command centers at the scene to direct search and rescue operations... To date, search teams have found four missing people, and four others remain unaccounted for.
In addition, the unit coordinated with the Department of Transport and other forces, and the Hoa Nam private enterprise to dismantle and salvage the collapsed Phong Chau bridge components and the sunken vehicles in the Red River.
On September 30th, Brigade 126/Navy dispatched 40 personnel along with vehicles and equipment to coordinate with the Provincial Military Command in searching for the missing victims.

Four victims are still missing following the collapse of the Phong Chau bridge on September 9th.
The search and diving operation, conducted from October 1st to October 22nd, covered the area downstream of the Red River with 66 dives, marking 25 locations and discovering two bridge structures, N6 and N7; 10 dives were also conducted at the request of the relatives of the missing persons, from Phong Chau Bridge to Van Lang Bridge.
However, due to the large volume of mud, sand, and debris, the strong current at Phong Chau bridge, and limited visibility caused by murky river water and heavy silt deposition, the search for the missing person has been difficult and ineffective.
Given the situation, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue has requested the Provincial People's Committee to consider ending the search for missing victims in the Phong Chau bridge area from October 24th.
In addition, the Department of Transport is tasked with leading the dismantling and salvage of the remaining parts of the N7 bridge structure, as well as the dismantling and salvage of the N6 bridge structure and the vehicles submerged in the river. Coordination with Brigade 249/Engineering Corps, Lam Thao and Tam Nong districts is also underway to maintain the operation of the Phong Chau pontoon bridge and ferry, ensuring absolute safety and facilitating transportation for the people.
