After the Ministry of Education and Training announced the sample exam questions for Physics, many teachers commented on the way this exam was set in the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Accordingly, the structure and format of the exam are oriented towards competency assessment, in line with the new GeneralEducation Program and are demonstrated through illustrative questions, competency tables - thinking levels attached, specifically as follows:
According to teachers, the exam consists of 40 questions (28 questions) to be completed in 50 minutes, including 18 multiple choice questions with 4 answers;
4 True/False questions with 16 questions equivalent to 16 questions; 6 short answer questions.

Questions belong to 3 levels of thinking: Know-Understand-Apply at the ratio of 40%-30%-30%, focusing on assessing 3 components of Physics capacity: Physical awareness;
Study the natural world from a physical perspective; Apply learned knowledge and skills in a ratio of 42.5%-12.5%-45%.
Accordingly, the exam will include 3 types of multiple choice questions as follows:
Form 1 is multiple choice test (4 options, 1 correct answer), is a popular question format applied for many years in Vietnam.
The test consists of 18 questions (accounting for 45% of the total questions in the test), belonging to 3 levels: Knowledge, Understanding, Application with a ratio of 23%-15%-8%. For each correct answer, the candidate gets 0.25 points.
Form 2 is a True/False multiple choice question, each question has 4 answers, candidates must answer True/False for each answer of the question.
This format requires candidates to have comprehensive capacity, knowledge and skills to achieve maximum score, limiting the use of "tricks" to choose answers from confusing options like in multiple choice test format.
The probability of randomly hitting the maximum score is 1/16, which is 4 times smaller than the current multiple choice test format.
The test consists of 4 questions in format 2, each question consists of 4 commands, the total test consists of 16 commands (accounting for 40% of the number of commands in the test), belonging to 3 levels: Know, Understand, Apply with a ratio of 15%-10%-15%. The scoring of questions in this format is as follows: The maximum score for a question is 1 point: Candidates who choose only 1 correct idea in a question will receive 0.1 point.
Candidates who choose only 2 correct options in 1 sentence will get 0.25 points; Candidates who choose only 3 correct options in 1 sentence will get 0.5 points; Candidates who choose only 4 correct options in 1 sentence will get 1 point.
And form 3, short answer multiple choice questions. This form is similar to the essay question form, and is assessed through the final result that the candidate must fill in on the answer sheet.
Candidates may have encountered this type of question in the competency assessment tests of Hanoi National University or the thinking assessment test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
This format requires candidates to have solid capacity, knowledge and skills, and limits the use of "tricks" to choose answers from confusing options like in multiple choice tests.
The test consists of 6 short answer questions (accounting for 15% of the questions in the test), belonging to 3 levels: Knowledge, Understanding, Application with a ratio of 3%-5%-8%. Each correct answer is worth 0.25 points.
At this time, the new General Education Program is implemented up to grade 11, so the knowledge content used in the illustrative questions is only from the grade 10 program, the question content is associated with meaningful contexts related to practice, applications of physics in life, science and technology.
New test formats are suitable for designing exams based on competency assessment, while improving the ability to classify candidates.
