Proposal to re-establish floor price for rice export

The proposal was made in the context of a number of enterprises bidding for rice at low prices, causing Vietnam's rice export prices to show signs of decreasing in recent days. The application of floor prices in rice exports was implemented about 10 years ago. In response to the proposal of the Vietnam Food Association, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said it would coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to propose optimal solutions. Also according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the value of rice exports in the first 5 months of the year reached 2.65 billion USD, an increase of about 40% over the same period last year. In the coming time, the rice industry needs to promptly and publicly inform about the bidding prices and winning prices of all enterprises participating in the export. This is the basis for building a transparent rice market trading floor.
