The poetry night named “Youthful Poetry - School and Nguyen Tien Thanh”, is not only a gathering place for poetry lovers and poets of many generations, but also a journey back to memories, youth, back to the years of “school youth” with the poetry movement that blossomed from the lecture halls of the University.
The poetry night is also an opportunity to review the history of youth-school poetry, a typical school of poetry of Literature students in the 80s and 90s.

The poetry night was attended by many poets, writers, and artists who studied and participated in literary activities at the Faculty of Philology (now the Faculty of Literature), University of Social Sciences and Humanities, such as poet Nguyen Quang Thieu (Chairman of the Vietnam Writers' Association), poet Nguyen Viet Chien, poet Tran Nhat Minh, Director of the Writers' Association Publishing House Nguyen Thu Hang, poets Nguyen Duc Hanh, Nguyen Xuan Hai, Vu Tran Thanh Dung, Kim Phuong, journalists, writers, researchers, painters, artists...
Speaking at the opening of the poetry night, Dr. Le Van Cuong, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Literature, said that this is an event aimed at many major anniversaries of the school and the Faculty of Literature such as the Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20, the 80th anniversary of the University of Literature's traditional day, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and at the same time preparing for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Literature ( Hanoi National University) and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Literature (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
Dr. Le Van Cuong said that this is not only an artistic event but also a sincere return to the sincere emotions of youth, with memories and poems that have accompanied the youth of many generations of students of the Faculty from the 80s and 90s.
Dr. Le Van Cuong believes that poetry is not only an important subject in the training process, but also a way to nurture the soul, where each student can express their true emotions, dreams, and ambitions.
Talking about the poetry night, Dr. Le Van Cuong said that poet, journalist... Nguyen Tien Thanh is one of the representative faces of contemporary poetry, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of readers with poems that are simple but poignant, profound but sharp, clear but poignant. Teachers and students of the Faculty of Literature are very happy to accompany poet Nguyen Tien Thanh on his journey back to the verses of his youth and school days.

Sharing about “school youth” poetry, poet Nguyen Tien Thanh said that the term “school youth poetry” was a phrase used by Dr. Ha Thanh Van in a small discussion about poetry. For him, school youth poetry is a “holy land”, “where every drop of pollen has a soul, where every line of poetry is the breath of the age of 20”, and if he could walk that path, he would still want to walk with emotion, faith, and dedication like the way previous poets have explored a path of “school youth” poetry.
Poet Nguyen Tien Thanh also mentioned many poets who have pioneered the “youth school” poetry genre, such as poets Nguyen Quang Thieu, Nguyen Viet Chien, Nguyen Duc Hai, Nguyen Xuan Hai… “I think that, like me, they never want to leave that ‘Me Tri path’. I am only afraid that it is not that ‘Me Tri path’ binds the writer, but that the writer no longer has enough emotion in his heart to continue taking steps on that path” – poet Nguyen Tien Thanh shared.

“The 'school youth' poets have walked with many different steps, with many different emotions, some walked with light, some walked with heartache. As for me, I still hope that between light and wound, the poets, those who still believe in words, will continue walking under the rain of the age of 20 that never stops” - poet Nguyen Tien Thanh confided.
The poetry night is a gathering of typical and contemporary poetry works, with famous poems by poet Hoang Nhuan Cam presented by teachers and students of the Faculty of Literature, a collection of poems by poet Nguyen Tien Thanh "written with the emotions of the age of 50 looking towards the age of 20", poems by poets colleagues and classmates of poet Nguyen Tien Thanh...

Along with the poetry performance were musical performances, from deep and emotional performances like “Dầu phải bởi Mùa Thu”, to a mash-up of Xăm with modern music, performed by youthful and vibrant dance students…
Poet Nguyen Tien Thanh is famous among Hanoi students as he was an outstanding poet of the student poetry movement at Hanoi University in the 1980s. He published three popular poetry collections, "Loạn Bút Hành" and "Chieu Không Danh Như Bật Mục Giua Đời" and "Viên Ca", expressing the poet's reflections and contemplations on life and love in middle age. Most recently, in October, he released the essay collection "Poetry does not need to save anyone, but to save the writer".
