(CT) - Within the framework of the 16th National Architecture Awards Ceremony (2024-2025) taking place on May 20, 2025 at the Hanoi Opera House, the group of architects from the Department of Construction of Can Tho City was honored to win the Bronze Prize with the work "Hung King Temple, Can Tho City" in the Public Architecture category.
The work "Hung King Temple, Can Tho City " was made by a group of authors: Master Architect Nguyen Thanh Tai, Architect Nguyen Duc Thinh, Architect Vu Dinh Dung, People's Artisan Ly Let, from the Institute of Construction Planning, Department of Construction of Can Tho City.

Hung King Temple in Can Tho City was built in Binh Thuy Ward, Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City. The project was designed in 2019 and completed in 2021. The temple is designed in the shape of a map of Vietnam with the center being the sacred axis. From the outside is the main gate with the architectural image of the Hung King period, sculpted based on the patterns and motifs of bronze drums. On both sides of the main axis are the administration house and service house with the architecture of ancient Southern houses. Next is the ceremonial gate with the architecture of the three-door gate and right in the center of the square is the stele house designed in wooden architecture. Behind the stele house is the ceremony yard, where festival activities for the community take place. The main part is the main temple block with the idea of evoking the image of the Ngoc Lu bronze drum surrounded by 18 arches with carved patterns, symbolizing the 18 generations of Hung Kings...
Winning the Bronze Award at a prestigious award such as the National Architecture Award is a testament to the talent, creativity and contribution of Can Tho City architects to the development of the country's architecture in general and Can Tho City in particular.
The National Architecture Award is a prestigious national award organized by the Prime Minister and co-organized by the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The award aims to honor outstanding architectural works nationwide, contributing to the development of Vietnamese architecture and raising public awareness of the art of architecture.
The 2024-2025 National Architecture Award has 239 entries in many categories. The Organizing Committee has selected 53 outstanding entries to award and honor, including 1 Grand Prize, 5 Gold Prizes, 12 Silver Prizes, and 35 Bronze Prizes. The Organizing Committee also honored the unit with the most achievements in the award period, awarded the "Award for the cause of architecture" and the award for the work with the most votes from the community.
Previously, the Vietnam Association of Architects selected 50 typical architectural works in the southern provinces and cities (including 34 provinces and cities from Quang Tri and below) based on nominations from local architects' associations.

Of the 50 typical architectural works, the Mekong Delta region has 14 works. Of which, Can Tho City has 2 works: Hung King Temple in Can Tho City and Ninh Kieu pedestrian bridge. Of which, Ninh Kieu pedestrian bridge - Master Truong Phuc Tho, Master Trinh Gia Khai, Architect Nguyen Thi Anh Ngoc, Architect Le Nguyen Dang Khoa - Joint venture of Can Tho Construction Planning and Inspection Center and KTC Traffic Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of Architects awarded the "Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Architectural Works of Southern Provinces and Cities - 50 years of national reunification".
