According to a quick report from the functional sector of Lam Dong province, due to the impact of heavy and prolonged rain over the past few days, the road surface of Mimosa pass, from Duc Trong commune to Da Lat (in Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat, Lam Dong province) was completely broken, the road surface was broken about 60 - 100m long, about 50m wide, about 30 - 40m deep.

A 45-seat passenger bus was fortunately able to stop in time at the edge of the abyss and was then rescued by authorities from the dangerous area. Photo: Provided by local residents.
Because other mountain passes leading to Da Lat such as Prenn Pass and Khanh Le Pass are being affected by landslides, the traffic volume on Mimosa Pass has increased sharply, making traffic safety more urgent.
Previously, on November 18, at another location on this mountain pass, a slight slide also appeared, forcing authorities to urgently deploy reinforcements to ensure safety for people and vehicles.

The road surface is severely fractured and the negative slope has collapsed more than 30m. Currently, there are still signs of continued landslides. Photo: Hoang Sa.
Specifically, the construction force of Lam Dong Provincial Road Maintenance Board and the contractor were mobilized overnight to deploy pile driving, anchor drilling and treatment of the roadbed and slope to prevent further sliding.
However, on the afternoon of November 19, landslides and fallen trees continued to occur on this pass, causing traffic to be interrupted for a short time. Mimosa Pass, along with Prenn Pass, are two vital routes to the south connecting Da Lat with National Highway 20 in the direction of Lien Khuong Expressway.

After the incident, Lam Dong provincial authorities quickly arrived to handle the situation and put up signs prohibiting vehicles from traveling. At the same time, they evacuated people living below the landslide area. Photo: Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee provided.
Recently, when Prenn Pass was completely blocked by landslides, Mimosa Pass was one of the routes that local authorities organized to temporarily replace Prenn Pass with traffic.
Mimosa Pass is about 11km long and is one of the main southern gateways to Da Lat. Recently, landslides have caused the road surface to crack and the slope to collapse. Previously, Lam Dong authorities temporarily banned trucks over 15 tons and diverted traffic to ensure safety.

Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi requested to temporarily stop all movement through Mimosa Pass area, set up checkpoints at both ends of the route to absolutely prevent vehicles from approaching the dangerous area. The Provincial Civil Defense Committee presided over and coordinated with the police, army and local authorities to evacuate all households in the area at risk of being affected, absolutely not allowing people to return to the scene until safety was ensured.
Assign police forces to divert traffic to alternative routes, guide vehicles to move safely, and prevent traffic jams or vehicles from entering landslide areas without permission.
The provincial chairman also directed to maintain a 24/7 force on duty at the scene to monitor geological developments, provide early warning of further landslides and deploy rescue plans when necessary. Relevant agencies are required to promptly report on the actual situation regularly to ensure timely direction, giving absolute priority to the safety of people and the task force.
