Dien Bien welcomes over 1 million tourists

According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien province, from January 1 to May 7, Dien Bien province welcomed over 1 million tourists, including 4,800,000 international visitors. Total revenue from tourism activities reached nearly 1,900 billion VND.

In particular, at its peak from April 30 to May 7, Dien Bien province welcomed over 370,000 visitors, with total revenue from tourism activities reaching over 390 billion VND.

During the peak days of organizing activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum and historical sites belonging to the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Relic Complex such as Hill A1, A1 Martyrs' Cemetery... welcome thousands of visitors every day.

The Dien Bien Provincial Relic Management Board and the Dien Bien Phu Historical Victory Museum have mobilized all civil servants, workers and recruited more students from colleges in the province to work as tour guides and service staff at tourist attractions; ensuring adequate facilities to best serve the needs of visitors.

Almost all hotels and motels, big and small, in Dien Bien Phu City and the surrounding areas are "full". Therefore, Dien Bien authorities at all levels have had to mobilize more households to set up homestays to provide maximum support for tourists, however, they cannot meet the needs of tourists.

Faced with this situation, since May 5, many people living in Dien Bien Phu City and Dien Bien District have proactively sought out and supported tourists to return home to stay for free.

In 2023, Dien Bien province will reach the milestone of welcoming 1 million tourists for the first time. In 2024, hosting the National Tourism Year and celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the province strives to welcome 1.3 million tourists with total revenue estimated at VND2,200 billion.

Having welcomed more than 1 million visitors since the beginning of the year, Dien Bien will have a great opportunity to exceed the above target as the time from now until the end of 2024 is still long with many events of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024.
