Dien Bien fully booked accommodation during peak season of Hoa Ban Festival

Hotels and motels, large and small, in the center of Dien Bien Phu city were fully booked early.

Ms. Ha Thanh Thu (Hanoi) planned to go to Dien Bien from March 15 to 18, combining work and sightseeing . Immediately after finalizing the schedule, she contacted to find a place to stay, however, finding a place to stay in Dien Bien Phu City was not easy. Ms. Thu said: “I proactively contacted 15 hotels and motels in the city but were told that they were all fully booked on those days. I had to ask an acquaintance in Dien Bien to help me find a place, but I was told that from hotels to small motels in the city center were all booked early, I could only stay at homestays on the border of the city.”

Muong Phang Hotel (Thanh Binh Ward) is also full during the upcoming peak season. The hotel has 21 rooms, accommodating a maximum of 60-70 guests. Right after Tet, the hotel has been operating at almost full capacity. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, manager of Muong Phang Hotel, said: “1-2 months ago, guests had already booked all their rooms for the Ban Flower Festival. These days, many people call to ask to book rooms, but I have to refuse to accept them.”

Long Giang Hotel (Him Lam Ward) also has no more vacant rooms during peak season. With a scale of 40 rooms, serving a maximum of 120 guests, 100% of the rooms have been booked for the period from early March to mid-May 2024. Ms. Nguyen Minh Hien, manager of Long Giang Hotel said: "At the end of 2023, the hotel has prepared to welcome guests for the national tourism year and important events taking place in the area, such as upgrading equipment, utensils, cleaning rooms... We seriously list prices according to regulations, support taxi travel and offer room discounts for volunteer groups and veterans, hoping to leave a good impression on visitors".

Accommodation options for visitors

According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province currently has 205 tourist accommodation establishments (with 2,767 rooms, 5,092 beds); of which Dien Bien Phu City and its vicinity have 121 accommodation establishments (1,839 rooms, 3,430 beds). To serve the reception of central and international delegates attending events, the Provincial People's Committee has sent a document to 11 hotels and guesthouses (553 rooms, 1,054 beds) requesting accommodation establishments to coordinate and prioritize the arrangement of rooms to serve the reception of delegates attending the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien, the Ban Flower Festival in 2024 and the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Homestays in the area are ready to welcome guests during peak season.

The current accommodation system in Dien Bien Phu City does not ensure sufficient conditions and capacity to accommodate and welcome tourists, especially during peak times when activities and major events take place. Therefore, the People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu City has promoted and mobilized local households to be ready to support accommodation for tourists during peak times. Communes and wards have been checking, reviewing, and compiling a list of households with conditions and needs to welcome and serve tourists for food and accommodation. From there, the city will synthesize, support, and allocate guests reasonably, ensuring that all tourists have safe and friendly places to eat and stay.

Up to now, Nam Thanh ward and Thanh Minh commune have completed the list with 14 households and cultural houses registered to welcome guests. Specifically, in Hoong En village, street 1, street 11 (Nam Thanh), Pung Tom village, Phieng Loi (Thanh Minh) with a capacity of over 260 people.

As the number of tourists and visitors to Dien Bien Phu City increases, the participation of local households in welcoming visitors not only helps to solve difficulties and ensure accommodation for visitors from afar, but also creates a good impression of the friendly and hospitable land of Dien Bien.
